K-2B LEARNING
We have all been working hard on story writing. We have been learning how
to construct our sentences, read work to each other and edit it! WOW!
OUR NEWEST STUDENT
We welcomed our newest student to our class on Friday 27/11/20. James will
be coming into Kindergarten in 2021.
All of our students are taking maturity very seriously! Being more responsible
for their learning, actions, behaviour and transitioning into Year 1 and Year 3
next year has been a goal for Term 4 in our room.
BOOK WEEK
We were all so excited to dress up for the Book Week
Parade. Sol was a Zombie, Michael a Minion, Dylan was
Daniel Ricciardo the race car driver, Aiden a Zombie,
Charlie a Chinese man and
Mrs H was Sadako from
“Sadako and a Thousand Paper Cranes”.
TERM 4 WEEK 8 K-2B
K-2B SWIMMING SCHOOL
We have all enjoyed swim school, the whole two weeks of it!
On the final day we decided to try travelling up on the back seat of the
bus. Some of us chose to move down the front where it was a bit quieter!
Making our own choices has made our teachers very proud and has
shown that we can be responsible for our own behaviour and decisions.
FRIDAY 4th DECEMBER 2020
We are attending a history excursion to celebrate our learning of
“Past in the Present”. We are excited to look at the history of Wangi.
Thank you to AVPS P&C Committee, Wangi RSL Club and Newcastle
Military Vehicle Club who have been working with Mrs B to help
make our excursion memorable.
TERM 4 WEEK 8
As we head towards the end of the year, we still have many events for the students to
enjoy in the last couple of weeks!
In week 9, the Year 6 Fete will be held next Monday, the whole school will go to the
movies on Tuesday (please make sure you have handed permission notes and $10 into
office in the morning) and our big P&C raffle will be drawn next Wednesday as well.
SCHOOL DATES 2021
There will now be two Staff Development Days at the beginning of 2021. Please see
starting dates below:
Wednesday 27th January 2021: Staff Development Day
Thursday 28th January 2021: Staff Development Day
Friday 29th January 2021: Students return Years 1-6

CLASS PRESENTATION ASSEMBLIES
We have been fortunate to be able to hold individual class presentation assemblies at
the end of the year with parents/carers being able to attend these assemblies under
strict guidelines. This means a lot to the staff and most importantly the students in each
class. We miss your daily presence within our school and we are excited by the
opportunity to celebrate all student achievements throughout a much disrupted 2020.
Thanks again to all of our wonderful parents and caregivers for all of your efforts again
this year.

OOSH 2021
Please don’t forget to book your spot at Arcadia Vale’s OOSH service in 2021. Please
see contact details outlined in the newsletter.
We need to increase the numbers attending our OOSH service in the morning and
afternoons. This is a fantastic service and part of our school. Please contact Jo to
discuss further with her.
YEAR 6 LEADERSHIP 2021 SPEECHES
Our leadership speeches were held last Thursday. I would like to congratulate those
Year 5 students who presented their speech to their parents and their peers, you
should be proud of the way that you delivered your speeches. The leadership team for
2021 is made up of 2 x School Captains and 2 x Prefects where both genders will be
represented in these top 4 positions. This structure was decided by the P&C at last
nights AGM. We will then have house captains and vice captains for each of our
houses. The big announcement will be made on Wednesday 2nd December at the 5/6
Class Presentation assembly commencing at 10am.
STUDENT REPORTS
Thank you to all teachers for taking so much time and effort with student reports this
semester. Student reports will go home via the Parent Portal on Wednesday 9th
December.
Please contact the office if you require a paper copy
or additional copies of student reports.
Have an awesome week!!!!!

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Exciting news! If you have not found out already along the grape vine, the Parent Portal App
has been released after a successful pilot. Please download from the App Store or Google Play
by simply searching for Sentral for Parents. Further information on the capabilities, functions
and purpose of the app can be found below.
We now have 75% of families signed up and using the parent portal which is fantastic. Thank
you to those of you who have flagged issues and I have worked alongside Sentral to rectify
these. It is more important than ever that all parents/carers sign up now however, as we had
discussed earlier this year that REPORTS WILL BE POSTED VIA SENTRAL.
Yes, that’s right, reports will be paperless this year. I will be sending out information for
those families not connected, again this week so that you can join before reports are posted
online. Once again, if you have any concern with the registration process please come in and
see me. I will help you out with this.
AVPS is such a dynamic environment and there is so much to share, if you would like to
hear about anything in particular please contact me at:
That’s the Assistant Principal’s Corner for Week 8!
Stay Classy Acadia Vale!
Mr Daniel Morgan
Assistant Principal
Arcadia Vale Public School would like to invite children who are heading into Kindergarten in 2021 to attend our school and enjoy activities on Thursday mornings
from week 3 until the end of term 4, 2020. The children will be able to interact with our current Kindergarten students through lessons, games and other key aspects related to ‘Big School.’ We see this as an excellent opportunity for the
students to become familiar with the primary school setting and ensure a smooth transition to their first year of schooling.
*Parents and carers are allowed to enter the school grounds to drop their child off and they are only allowed on the grounds for no longer than 10 minutes. The
designated drop off zone for the children will be the library. The library is easily accessed via the Short Street gate. Our school leaders will be at the Short Street entrance to greet you at the beginning of each session. Children will need to bring a water bottle and a hat to each session. If your child is unwell, they won’t be able to
attend the session. Please inform us if your child is unable to attend. Mr Atkins (Principal) will be available if you have any questions for him.
ALL WELCOME!! Contact 4975 1181 for any enquiries.

RESUME NEXT YEAR IN 2021
Wow what a year it has been!!
Thanks to the teachers, the families for everything you have done this year—and especially to AVPS students who have had a challenging year with home schooling/quarantine/changes with teachers/students etc. You have done so well—and we are very proud of the AVPS students.
We had the P&C Annual General Meeting last night, which had fantastic attendance, we are looking forward to the 2021 School Year.
We have a few people to thank:
