A remedial four-course program which raises language and inter-cultural consciousness through graded and rigorous exercises spanning linguistic and metalinguistic aspects involved in the process of translation. Electives offer learners a chance to brush up their knowledge of Arabic Grammar, gain working knowledge of translation from and into a second foreign language, or make a start learning a second foreign language. All students are required to take a common Core Program of four courses (120 contact hours) before they specialize in one of

Continuing Education Unit Career Certificate in Legal Translation
An intensive program emphasizing the rules governing legal drafting in both Arabic and English. Continuing Education Unit Career Certificate in Print Media Translation
A translation program geared toward training learners to master the linguistic and stylistic skills associated with print media. Exposure to current affairs and the ongoing political and economic scene is given in light of a translation methodology that emphasizes the peculiar language traits of print media. This methodology is supplemented by a communicative approach to increase learners’ awareness of culture-specific language usage. Electives give students a choice between courses that offer training in a variety of topics: a course geared toward style improvement (TRAN317); resuming courses started in CPWT in translation from and into a foreign language; or learning a foreign language. Continuing Education Unit Career Certificate in Screen Translation
A translation program that develops an inter-cultural consciousness and adopts a communicative approach to film and TV subtitling. Electives offer learners a chance to train in the field of print media translation, improve their linguistic and stylistic skills (TRAN317), resume courses started in GWT in translation from and into a foreign language, or learn a foreign language.
