Due the government privatization scheme in the first quarter of 2006 Ka-mil Holding Limited which is owned by the Investment Agency of Sultanate of Brunei joined the company as a strate-gic partner through purchasing 37% of the total shares of the company. JPMC is the sole entity currently operat-ing under licence to mine and produce phosphate rock in Jordan. JPMC is the largest mining and industrial employer in Jordan.History And Background :Phosphate bearing deposits were first discovered in Jordan in 1908 in the AI-Ruseifa region during the construction of the AI-Hijazi railroad, approximately 15 km north of Amman. It is estimated that more than 60 per cent of the area of Jordan has phosphate bearing de-posits at varying depths. JPMC prede-cessor commenced its phosphate min-ing activities in 1935 in the Al-Ruseifa area. Further mining operations were established in 1962 at AI-Hassa, ap-proximately 135 km to the south of Am-man and 200 km north of Aqaba and at AI-Abiad, 20 km north of the mine at Al-Hassa, in 1979. countries such as Palestine and Saudi Arabia. Jafcco main products are Po-tassium Sulfate (K2SO4) and Hydro-chloric Acid (HCL).K2SO4 has become an essential com-ponent of the most important fertilizers worldwide since it was first used over 130 years ago. Its CL content is less than 0.5% and its dissolution capacity is 100%. This makes it suitable for use with most kinds of irrigation systems. Potassium sulfate (K2SO4) is especial-ly ideal in drip irrigation. HCL is essen-tial for such industries as metal galvani-zation and the production of detergents used to clean wires and pipes. Jafcco currently produces HCL at 30-32% but it is possible to prepare it at other con-centrations as may be requested by the client. At the present time, jafcco produces (5500) MT of K2SO4 annu-ally while its production of HCL stands at (6800) MT annually. Almost 70% of both products are sold to Arab neigh-boring countries and 30% Is exported to several European countries.Within the coming three years JAFCCO plans to expand its present infrastruc-tures to establish a sulfuric acid factory which will supply the present SOP facil-ity with raw materials. SOP production capacity will be boosted to (15000) MT yearly. World - class K2SO4 (100%) soluble and essential for NPK produc-tion is already being produced at our present factory.

Company profile Capital: The authorized capital is KD 150 million. The paid-up capital, as at 1.1.2009, was KD 100 million (about $364 million). Member countries: 20 shareholder countries, namely, Saudi Arabia, Ku-wait, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Iraq, Qatar, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Syria, Somalia, Tunisia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Pal-estine, Yemen, and Comoros. Agricultural Investment Activity: The agricultural investment activity of AAAID is composed of shareholdings in companies, as well as loans to sup-port and develop some of the compa-nies in which it has shareholdings. The

total amount of this investment activity, as at the end of 2008, was $555 mil-lion. Number of companies: 25 existing companies, and 5 companies under implementation. Technology Transfer: AAAID has suc-ceeded in applying modern produc-tion technology packages and equip-ment, establishing pilot projects to be followed by other investors. The most outstanding of these is the zero-till-age farming system which increased crop yield by 300%. It designed a pro-gram for dissemination of this system to small farmers. It started implement-ing it and achieved impressively suc-cessful results. Thus, the model pres-ents an opportunity for fighting hunger, boosting rural development. This can be achieved by cooperation with finan-cial institutions and organizations con-cerned with food security and poverty alleviation.
