If the membrane dries out, irreversible damage to the UltraFilter membrane may result. Protect the filter from becomingdry by keeping it wet and sealed at all times.

    p o o zi g

If the Ultra Filter membrane freezes during operation or stor-age, irreversible damage to the membrane and brittle crackingof the cartridge or housing may result.

    p o o di u igh o o h UV ou

Avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight or other UVsources. The Ultra Filter should be stored in a dark location.

    p o o high u o u v i io iu

T ma im m op ratin t mp rat r is 104F (40C). Avoidabrupt variations in temperature. Any temperature variationshould be made slowly.

    p o o ough h d i g o d o i g

M c anica dama , t rna br aka , and/or int rna br ak -age of the filter can result if the system is dropped or bumped.Handle with care at all times during transportation andinstallation.

    p o o o g i o v d o d id

Prevent any and all contact of the membrane with strong sol-v nts, so v nts containin c orin , or conc ntrat d acids. DoNOT use strong solvents or concentrated acids on any plasticparts of the filter system. Examples of some solvents to avoid:ac ton , m t ac tat (nai po is r mov r); an (spotr mov rs); t rp ntin , to n (paint t inn rs); dr c aninsolutions, insecticides.

    p o o iv i

The membranes must be protected from abrasive materialslike shavings left in a pipe. Abrasive materials in contact withthe membrane can cause irreversible damage to the mem-brane. All pipes must be flushed clean before installing thefilter. All plastic parts of the filter system must be protectedfrom sharp objects like knives, sand paper, or other tools.Cutting or nicking a plastic part can weaken it and cause a

ak. Do NOT s abrasiv c ans rs on an p astic parts.

    p o o h

The system must be protected from shock, pressure surges,or pulsation that may occur inside water pipes. Water ham-mer occurs in pipes when a valve or faucet shuts quickly.Insta a wat r amm r arr stor (pr ss r v ss containincompr ss d air s parat d from t wat r b a diap ra m) toreduce pressure shock.
