HISTORY OF AQUARIUM• Dating back to 4500 years Sumerians

were the first people who started setting up aquariums in the form of ponds and tanks.

• In the Roman Empire, the first fish to be brought indoors was the sea barbel, which was kept under guest beds in small tanks made of marble.

elements of both marine and freshwater fish keeping. Fish kept in brackish water aquaria generally come from habitats with varying salinity, such as mangrove swamps and estuaries.
