THOMAS MEEHANBookThomas received the Tony Award for co-writing the book for The Producers in 2001 and for co-writing the book for Hairspray in 2003 . He received his earliest Tony Award in 1977 for writing the book of Annie, which was his fi rst Broadway show, and subsequently wrote the books for some 15 further musicals, of which several have been staged in London

including Young Frankenstein (with Mel Brooks), Elf, and Death Takes A Holiday(with Maury Yeston) . In addition, he was a long-time contributor of humor to The New Yorker, an Emmy-Award winning writer of television comedy, and a collaborator on a number of screenplays, including Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs and To Be or Not to Be . He was a member of the Council of the Dramatists Guild . Thomas died on August 22, 2017, and will be

CHARLES STROUSEMusicA graduate of New York’s PS 87, Townsend Harris High School and the Eastman School of Music, Charles has studied composition with Aaron Copland, Arthur Berger and David Diamond in the US and Nadia Boulanger in Paris . Charles has composed copious chamber music, two piano concertos, a string quartet and two operas, after which, being broke like most composers, he was a rehearsal pianist and dance arranger for many shows, played in bar rooms, ballet classes, at weddings and strip joints (a particular boon for one who was to write the music for the film The Night They Raided Minsky’s) . One morning in 1960, he awoke to find he had written (with Lee Adams and Mike Stewart) Bye Bye Birdie (Tony Award), which is still among the most performed musicals in America, followed by Golden Boy with Sammy Davis, Jr (Tony nomination) . Mr Strouse composed I and Albert, which opened in 1972 in the West End at the Piccadilly Theatre, where Sarah Brightman made her stage debut . Then came Applause (Tony Award), It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman, Rags (Tony nomination) and Annie (Tony Award) . In between, there have been scores for movies including Bonnie and Clyde and All Dogs Go to Heaven . Throughout his career, Charles has received the Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, Frederick Loewe and the Leonard Bernstein awards for musical achievement . He is married to director/choreographer Barbara Siman and is the father of Benjamin (attorney, author and composer), Nicholas (psychotherapist), Victoria (screenwriter) and William (also a screenwriter) .

He has received four Tony nominations, two Tony Awards, six Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards, three gold records, two platinum records, six Drama Desk Awards, the Peabody Award for Broadcasting, and another Grammy Award for Jay-Z’s rap album Vol 2…Hard Knock Life, which went triple platinum. He is currently writing a musical with a score by the late Harold Arlen, a musical Robin Hood, with the late Thomas Meehan and Peter Sipos, and has created a one-woman entertainment entitled There’s Always One More Song to Sing for his wife, and former Annie Star-to-Be, Shelly Burch. His other projects included: Time Life’s double disc Annie 30th anniversary production album, which also showcases songs from Annie 2; the continuing national tour of Annie, currently in its third year; Rodgers &, a concert celebration of the music of Richard Rodgers and his six lyricists (Mr Charnin functions as narrator in this musical, which presents some 70 Rodgers melodies); and Love Is Love, a musical revue. Next up is a musical called Wallenberg, a dramatic musical about the incredible Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who saved over 100,000 Jewish lives in Hungary at the height of the Holocaust.

Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. He has also been Resident Director on the West End and touring productions of shows such as Chicago, Singin' in the Rain, Mamma Mia! and the world tour of Walking with Dinosaurs – the arena spectacular . of Qdos Entertainment and has created over

created Cinderella and Dick Whittington at
