A Different Memory Verse Big Idea: Play a fun game of memory match while practicing the memory verse. What You Need: “Memory” Activity Cards (You will have six separate cards.) What You Do:

• Lay the cards face down onto the floor. • Have one child go first. • Encourage the child to turn over two cards to see if they match.

o If the cards do not match, turn them back over. • Choose another child to have a turn and continue the activity. • If you still have children who have not had a turn and all of the matches are gone,

simply shuffle the cards, replace the cards face down, and begin again. • Collect the cards and Bring it Back to Jesus*.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “We are going to play a game!” During the Activity: “There are cards on the floor. (Point.) Each card has a match on it. House Hunting Big Idea: Children will complete different movements once they arrive at the different home images. What You Need: “Home Images” Activity Pages on white cardstock, and wall tape What You Do:

• Use the wall tape to secure these images to the wall in different areas of the room. • Gather the children in your open space and point out and name the different “home” images. • Call out a type of home and have the children run to it. • Give them an action to perform once they arrive.

Actions: Jump up and down March in place Hug a friend Clap your hands quickly Give a high five Hop on one foot Swim in place

What You Say: During the Activity: “Do you see all the pictures of homes I’ve placed around the room? (Point.) I will call out one of them along with an action and I want you to run to find that picture and then perform the action once you get there. For example, let’s all swim at the houseboat. Ready, go find it!” After the Activity: “Great job, friends! Come back and gather here with me where we started. (Pause.) Everybody take a deep breath. Whew, that was fun and tiring! You probably noticed that all of these houses are very different. I’m sure that the woman who met Jesus that day lived in a very different house than the houses in these pictures. But the differences don’t really matter, because Jesus loves everyone! Everyone is different and Jesus loves us ALL no matter what! Who does Jesus love? Jesus loves everyone!”

CRAFT WEEK 2

Water from a Well What You Need: Blue tissue paper, 3-4 small paper plates, liquid glue, cotton swabs (1 per child), 12-oz. clear plastic cups (1 per child), and “Bible Story Labels” What You Do:

• Place the blue tissue paper in the center of the table. • Place some glue on the center of each paper plate and set them in the center of the tables. • Place a few cotton swabs next to each plate. • Pass out a 12-oz. plastic cups. • Demonstrate how to dip their cotton swab into the glue, then dab some onto one of the

• Give each child a “Bible Story Label” to place on the outside of their cup. • Write the child’s name on their cup and place inside white bag.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “Today, we learned about a woman who went to the well to draw water. I thought it would be fun to make a craft to take home that reminds us of our lesson today!!” During the Activity: “Look at this cup? (Hold up a cup.) I want you to take a cotton swab, dip it into the glue, dab some glue onto the tissue paper, and then carefully press it inside the cup. Remember, just like water goes INSIDE the cup, the tissue paper goes INSIDE the cup. You’ll also need to put one of these labels on the OUTSIDE of your cup.” (Do activity.) After the Activity: “Great job, everyone! Your wells look awesome. Tell me, when Jesus asked the woman for a drink at the well that day, what did she do? (Pause for responses). Yes! She gave Jesus a drink. Jesus took the time to speak to her even though she was different. Everyone is different and Jesus loves us ALL no matter what! Who does Jesus love? Jesus loves everyone!”

PRAYER/PLAYDOH TIME What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Playdoh, Heart Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Sticker Roll SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): “It’s Prayer and Playdoh time - my favorite time! I think we should pretend to carry buckets of water while we walk to the table since the woman in our lesson went to a well to get a bucket of water. Everyone pick up your pretend bucket of water. Try not to spill any water as we walk. Here we go! (Pretend to carry heavy buckets of water as you walk to the table. Pretend to get splashed by a few drops of water as you walk. Make it fun.) You did a great job! Now let’s sit down so we can talk about our lesson today. One, two, three, sit down with me!” SGL: “We learned in our Bible lesson today that Jesus loves everyone, even the woman at the well who was different. Everyone is different and Jesus loves us ALL no matter what! Who does Jesus love? Jesus loves everyone! I want us to make a list of ways Jesus loves us. Like how:

• He’s a good friend. • He protects us. • He makes us better when we’re sick. • He helps us when we’re afraid, He gives us what we need. • He helps us do hard things.

SGL: “Think about how Jesus loves us. When I say your name, tell me one way He loves you. (Pause) I love your ideas! Doing these things for other people will show them we love them the way Jesus loves us. Now I’ll pray.” SGL: “Ok, it’s time to review our lesson. I am going to ask you some questions and you will get a sticker for answering them. I have some really cool stickers today. Are you ready? (Pause.) Great!”

• Go from child to child and have them repeat the memory verse for a sticker. • Ask the children the Bottom Line question for a sticker. • Using the Parent Take Home card, ask each child individually the questions pertaining to this

week’s lesson and give out a sticker.
