The outbreak of coronavirus began in the Chinese city of Wuhan in 2020 of October and it has now spread to almost every continent of the world. It has spread enough to be considered pandemic resulting in the deaths of many people diagnosed positive. Schools and work places announced closure for the time being and the life pattern of many people around the globe has been inevitably changed. There are people that are avoiding crowded places, some are voluntarily quarantined at home and some by the order of public health department.
I notice that people are highly aware of this virus lately. It is a good thing that people are paying attention to what’s going on and being sensitive of what action to take in terms of prevention. According to the public health department, one of the things we can do to prevent coronavirus transference is to make sure that we constantly clean our hands either with sanitizer or water. This will help us to from spreading germs and bacteria. As I see people are being sensitive to this virus, I thought about how many people are really sensitive to a spiritual virus that is growing and spreading in human lives. Paul, in Galations tells us what a spiritual virus looks like. Galations 5:19-21 “The acts of flesh are obvious; sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, faction, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.”
All of us enjoy indulging in a little bit of sin every now and then, both consciously and unconsciously, yet still do we not recognize what these spiritual viruses can do to our lives. How good are we at preventing these spiritual viruses? Are you being sensitive to this contamination and do you acknowledge that they are lurking around us at all time?
Sin is a spiritual virus. We may not see it, but once the virus is transmitted to our life, it makes us become lethargic, insecure and can only lead us into death (separation from God). Romans 8:13 says “For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Dear Church, let us live by the spirit, not by the flesh. We need prayer, we need the holy and anointed Words of God in our life to prevent this kind of spiritual virus. We need God’s grace and mercy every day to prevent us from temptation. Please take care of yourself and do your best to prevent viruses both physical and spiritual. I will hold you all in my prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Won D. Kim

GENERAL CONFERENCE scheduled for the early part of May has been cancelled until a later date to be announced.

The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.

EASTER TRADITIONS
At dawn, Mary opened the tomb of Jesus to discover Him gone. For this reason we celebrate a sunrise service which first occurred in Germany in 1732 by a Moravian church.
Our English word Easter, comes from an Anglo-Saxon goddess named Eostre. (Astarte or Oster) Many traditions we adapted came from the missionaries of old cultures to help the people feel comfortable with Christian practices. The Christian celebration gradually took the place of the original pagan one.
Ham was chosen as a traditional meat for Easter dinner because farmers would slaughter pigs in the fall and smoke them for several months having them ready for Easter in the spring. Jewish Orthodox continue to eat lamb and eschew pork.
The Easter Bunny evolved out of ancient fertility rituals and spring baby bunnies overrunning the fields.
