Capital High School Respect Rally The Capital High School MBI Youth Activation Committee (with the help of the CHS Niceness is Priceless Club) recently held its annual Respect Rally on March 7, 2018. The rally coincided with the national Spread the Word to End the Word Day (a campaign aimed to end the derog-atory use of the R-word) and its purpose was to respect all—those with and without intellectu-al disabilities. Students and staff participated in a number of activities, including signing Re-spect banners, playing unified sports such as basketball, soccer, and baseball with Special Olympics athletes and other special needs students, playing people bingo, and receiving prizes and giveaways. Special thanks to Special Olympics Montana, Bob’s Valley Market, Capital Sports/Rivals, Frozen Moose, Copperline Pasties, and Moose Junction for your donations for this successful event!

State Economics Quiz Bowl Champions CHS placed in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams with the top two teams squaring off in a quiz bowl. Capital placed 1st and 2nd and faced off against each other. The team of Sophia Stiict, Alex Northey and Mariah Thomas made a comeback from 5 down to beat the team of Hunter Boles, Norris Blossom, Jonah Bibeau and Gage LaRue. A rather large traveling trophy will be presented at a school board meeting the event managers said. We have really nice team trophies for the school. We also had nice trophies and cash prizes for individual competition winners 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Norris took 3rd, Alex 2nd and Jonah 1st. Jessica Griffiths, John LaRue and James Hohenloe also participated and beat many teams. Talk about 10 classy students, you would have been proud of how the acted. There were 14 teams in each division so Capital did pretty well. Bozeman had won the event for the last 1 zillion years so it was nice to break their streak. A good day to be a Bruin!

Art Seen Club has been painting 3 Little Free Libraries for the Lewis and Clark Library's 150 year celebra-tion this April. Kimberly Cook, CHS Art teacher, is also a volunteer Cub Scout leader for pack 206. This year, her Webelos 2 den built little libraries using the building skills they were taught. They then brought them to Capital to have Mrs. Cook's Art Seen Club decorate them. The club came up with ideas for their design and began working on them in February. The completed houses are on display at the Lewis and Clark Library from now through mid April and will also be for sale. The public has an opportunity to pur-chase them and install it in front of your house for all to enjoy! But get one soon, as they will go fast!!

Link Crew Peer Mentoring Fundraiser April 18! Please join us or donate to this event.

Link Crew Peer Mentoring is our Capital High Program and class that puts on the Bruin Beginning Freshmen Orientation in the fall and does mentoring and violence prevention work throughout the school year. Between 80 and 100 juniors and seniors volunteer to help new students transition into CHS. We provide these leaders with t-shirts, train and feed them, and provide a snack break on orientation day for about 500 students. During the school year, the Peer Mentoring class has many costs, as well. The mentors attend trainings and must be fed, a violence prevention trainer paid and lodged, and students make and provide gifts for their little buddies in the Bruin Buddies program. We also mentor at the middle school and at our school with freshmen, which have various costs for the projects we do with them. We could use your help to help us do our work.

Each year we have a dinner and silent auction to help pay for these expenses. We can use your support in a number of ways—

You can donate services or items to our silent auction on Wednesday, April 18
