Why a focus on Elder Justice…? The 2015 White House Conference on Aging will be including Elder justice as a topic as it is important given that seniors, particularly the oldest older Americans, can be vulnerable to financial exploitation, abuse, and neglect. The Elder Justice Act was enacted as part of the Affordable Care Act, and we need to realize its vision of protecting seniors from scam artists and others seeking to take advantage of them.

To inspire the Wyoming aging network to seek and accept leadership responsibilities as part of their contribu-tion to improving services for older adults.

To increase awareness of current and emerging challenges in Wyoming. To develop an aging network of providers and partners who advocate to realign and modernize current aging

programs and networks to be more efficient and effective in their performance that will meet the future needs of baby boomers, while improving services to current older adults.

To recognize and honor the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act.

Nursing CEs approved through the Wyoming Hospital Association at 20.75 Contact hours.

The Wyoming Psychological Association has approved 20.75 CEs for this workshop. WyGEC maintains complete responsibility for the program.

The Tripartite Committee on Continuing Education for Pharmacy in Wyoming approves this workshop for 20.75 CE hours.

Featured Speakers

Paul R. Greenwood, is currently a prosecutor for Elder Abuse as a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego, CA. His practice area includes Criminal Prosecution and has been the Head of Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit since January of 1996. His educa-tion includes a Bachelor of Laws from Leeds University in Yorkshire England in 1973. Mr. Greenwood as worked as a barrister and then a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales from 1981-1991. He has received numerous awards including: the 2006 San Diego County Bar Association Public Service Attorney Award; 2007 Professional Leadership Award by Elder Fi-nancial Protection Network; the Edwin H. Sutherland award in 2009 for outstanding service to the public and the anti-fraud pro-

fession; was the recipient of the National Adult Protective Services Award in 2010 for collaboration & leadership in the prosecutorial field; and was inducted into the Elder Rights Advocacy Hall of Fame in 2011 by National Association of Legal Services Developers. Mr. Green-wood has been married to his wife for 35 Years, has 2 children and currently resides in California.

Kathy Greenlee; As Assistant Secretary for Aging, Greenlee oversees a budget of $1.9 billion, $819 million of which funds sen-ior nutrition programs like Meals on Wheels. The agency also funds $539 million in grants to programs to help seniors stay in their homes through services (such as accomplishing essential activities of daily living, like getting to the doctor's office, buying groceries etc.) and through help given to caregivers. Greenlee served as Secretary of Aging for the state of Kansas from January 2006 to June 2009. In that capacity, she led a cabinet-level agency with 192 full-time staff members and a total budget of $495 million. Her department oversaw the state's Older Americans Act programs, the distribution of Medicaid long-term care pay-

ments and regulation of nursing home licensure and survey processes. Greenlee has served on the board of the National Association of State Units on Aging since 2008. From 2004-2006, Greenlee served as State Long-Term Care Ombudsman in Kansas, and prior to that, was the state's Assistant Secretary of Aging. From 1999-2002, Greenlee served as general counsel at the Kansas Insurance Department. During her tenure there, she led the team of regulators who evaluated the proposed sale of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, and oversaw the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas program. Greenlee also served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Operations for then Governor Kathleen Sebelius. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas with degrees in business administration and law

Jeff Yeager, “The Ultimate Cheapskate” Jeff Yeager: Combining his original brand of humor with a meaningful and timely message about the virtues of living on less, Jeff's audiences are bent over in laughter one moment and reflecting thoughtfully about what they really want out of life the next. Having spent 25 years as a CEO and top executive in the nonprofit sector, Jeff has a unique and valuable perspective on spending less and enjoying life more. As a freelance writer and guest on the NBC TO-DAY Show, Jeff's role as the Ultimate Cheapskate is quickly earning him a national reputation as a humorist with something more than just humor to offer.

Paul Wessel, Founder and CEO of Technology Innovation Consultants and the Genesis Institute Initiative . Mr. Wessel has spent the past 28 years involved in different disciplines of industrial and healthcare automation. He has held different executive leadership roles in sales, marketing, and new product and intellectual property development within large and medium sized cor-porations. As an inventor and entrepreneur, Mr. Wessel has successfully built and sold several medical device companies. Mr. Wessel received the 2003 Tekne Award presented by the Minnesota High Technology Association as ” Innovator of the Year” for an emerging company. Mr. Wessel has been issued three United States Patents with six more domestic and international pa-tents still pending. In 2011, Mr. Wessel was honored by the Engineering Society of Detroit with its Alpha Award, as recognition

for his contributions in medical device development.

Amy Goyer, author of AARP’s Juggling Life, Work and Caregiving is an aging and families expert, specializing in caregiving, grandparenting and multi/inter-generational issues. A consultant, speaker and author, she also serves as AARP's Family and Caregiving Expert (www.aarp.org/amygoyer). She has written numerous publication and she also vlogs about her personal care-giving experiences. She has been an advocate for older adults, children and families for more than 30 years at the local, state, national and international levels. Ms. Goyer started her career as a music therapist and adult day services administrator, and later worked at the Ohio Dept. of Aging before joining AARP, where she headed up the intergenerational program and Grandparent Information Center for caregiving grandparents. A passionate champion for caregivers, she has been one her entire adult life. She

was a long-distance caregiver for her grandparents and sister, Karen, and has been primary caregiver for her parents, Patricia and Robert. She is based in Arizona where she lives with her dad, who is 91 and has Alzheimer’s disease, along with Mr. Jackson, his service dog.

Harry R. Moody, Ph.D., recently retired as Vice President and Director of Academic Affairs for AARP in Washington, DC. A graduate of Yale (1967) and his received his Ph.D. from Columbia University (1973). He is currently Distinguished Visiting Professor at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Moody previously served as co-founder and Execu-tive Director of the Brookdale Center on Aging at Hunter College and Chairman of the Board of Elderhostel (now Road Schol-ar). Moody is the author of over 100 scholarly articles, as well as a number of books. His most recent book, The Five Stages of the Soul, was published by Doubleday Anchor Books and has been translated into seven languages worldwide. He is the editor of

the newsletter, "Human Values in Aging," reaching 10,000 subscribers each month. In 2011 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society on Aging; in 2010, the Robert Kahn Award for Successful Aging, from Masterpiece Living and in 2008 he was named by Utne Reader Magazine as one of “50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World.” Dr. Moody is a bioethicist and author of Ethics in an Aging Society (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1992), the first book on biomedical ethics and aging. For 8 years he served as Editor of "The Soul of Bioethics" newsletter, published by the Healthcare Chaplaincy. Since retiring from AARP, Moody is at work at two new books: Leaving a Lega-cy: Our Aging Society and Future Generations, focusing on public pensions and environmental protection; and Gerontology: The Basics, under contract with Routledge. His new television series, "Age Talk," is sponsored by the Society of Certified Seniors Advisors.
