GENERAL MANAGER'S NOTE

Friends,There is no doubt we live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Who can resist a smile when the “Mountain is Out” or cheer when we see one of our resident orcas breaching the water in the Puget Sound? And this year we can all celebrate the new baby orca, born in February!

April is the month we recognize Earth Day. It is a time for us to take a moment to reflect on the delicate balance between our actions and the impact we have on the environment.

Do you ever wonder if you’re doing enough to help protect our environment? There are many simple, small things each of us can do that help. You can find tips online that fit your lifestyle, including planting a garden for yourself or for pollinators, reusing and recycling more, planting a tree, buying eco-friendly light bulbs, conserving water, volunteering to help clean up in the community. Whatever you choose to do will make a difference.

We are all tied together and if we take time to learn what we can do to keep that balance we all will thrive.

I invite you to watch some of the many programs we have scheduled this month that can inform your Earth Day, such as Great White Shark: New Perspectives on an Ancient Predator (4/6 at 6pm) or INDEPENDENT LENS: Wildland (4/13 at 11pm).

I hope you’ll enjoy learning more about the efforts underway locally, regionally, and nationally!
