Commanders Report
Greetings Fellow Compatriots,
It is getting closer to our Texas Division Reunion in Waco. If you plan on
going visit our Division Website for information and a discount on rooms at the
Hilton and a discount package for the events. We’ve just completed our 2nd dose
of ModeRNA, and it feels so good to walk around without a mask. We are hon-
ored to have at our meeting Mr. Curt Locklear. Curt is a renown historian, guitar
picker, banjo player, author, and storyteller. Let us have a great turn out for his
presentation. So far, I have only received 3 responses regarding Division’s request
for Emails to State Representatives. I have no current information that HB 1186
has been referred out-of committee. The session is supposed to end the last of
May; but it looks like it may go longer but I’ll keep the Camp posted

State News Cont. - Texas Division Convention
The 2021 Texas Division Convention in Waco is quickly approaching. The dates are
May 28-30, and the Waco Camp says only about ten people have registered so far. The
Lee Lockwood Library has already hosted three other conventions since Christmas, so
COVID is not a major concern. You can access information about the Convention and
host hotel and menu are on the Texas Division website(link below). Also, remember that
registration is ongoing, and that rates are cheaper if you register NOW instead of wait-
ing.
Thank you,

IN THE OLD DOMINION More than a dozen gravestones and memorials were toppled and spray-painted in Hollywood Cemetery on Saturday, causing more than $200,000 in damage, according to the Richmond police, who are "investigating" the vandalism. IN THE OLD LINE STATE The House of Delegates voted 94-38 to do away with the State Song, Maryland My Maryland with mostly Democrats in favor of the repeal and mostly Republicans opposed. A similar bill is soon coming up for vote in the Senate. Some have asked Governor Larry Hogan if he will sign or veto the bill upon arrival. he refuses to answer. Speculation is that he will sign. ALSO IN MARYLAND William Thompson Walters, founder of the Baltimore art collection that bears his name campaigned for the Confederate cause along with his son Henry. Both were praised as visionary philanthropists who developed and bequeathed the world-class art collection that's among the city's crown jewels. Research conducted by the Walters Art Museum made public Monday revealed William Walters advocated for the Confederacy lobbying for a secessionist party ticket to represent Baltimore in the state legislature. Henry Walters was a teenager during the War, but as an adult in 1909 he donated funds to erect a statue in North Carolina honoring George Davis, former attorney general for the Confederate states. The city of Wilmington removed the monument last year. IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH The hate crimes unit of the Calgary Police Service is investigating after a Confederate Flag was spotted flying on a pole in Reader Rock Garden on Tuesday. A person reported it to police before 7 p.m. Someone had taken the Confederate Flag down by the time officers arrived, and police recovered it from the garbage. Police said the incident “is being taken very seriously.”

On Saturday, April 3rd, The Rt.360 Charlotte Defenders Roadside Memorial Battle
Flag was raised in a private ceremony, on private property, to the glory of God, in
memory of all Confederate soldiers, and in honor of all of the men of Charlotte County
who fought in the War Between the States! This was a joint project with the Charlotte
County Grays, SCV Camp #1964, who will serve as Guardians of the Flags for the site
moving forward. Thank you, gentlemen, for your hard work and dedication in getting
this project completed.
We counted 90+ in attendance, and were so thankful to all who came out to help us celebrate,
honor, and remember. Special thanks to the 1st Corps Color Guard under Commander Joe
Wright who served as our color guard, High Bridge Camp # 1581 and Armistead-Hill-Goode
Camp # 749 for assisting the Charlotte Grays with the honor guard, ,Pipemajor David Hinton.
After greetings from representatives of the UDC, SCV, and the OCR, SCV Chaplain-In-Chief
Rev. Dr. Herman White delivered stirring remarks... and the 12' x 12' ANV battle flag was
raised to the Glory of God and in honor and memory of the Confederate soldiers of Charlotte
County, Virginia.
This was the 33rd Roadside Memorial Battle Flag the VA Flaggers have raised across the Com-
monwealth since September of 2013
VA Flagger Update

Just down the road a bit, in Rockbridge County, Site #34 was dedicated on Saturday
April 17th, also at 11:00 AM.
This flag site was a joint project with the Virginia Mechanized Cavalry, 10th Platoon,
2nd Bn, Co A. These gentlemen will take over as guardians of the flag site and have
already started working on improvements, with more to come.
Thanks to the hard work and commitment of hundreds of volunteers, and the generosity of our
supporters. That was two large flags up in the same month.
All glory to God. All honor to the Confederate soldier.

SLRC Dallas Monument Cases Update
BREAKING: Texas 5th Court of Appeal dissolved the Temporary Injunction that pro-
tected Pioneer Cemetery Confederate War Memorial
Appeal planned. City claims it has no "current" plans to disturb the storage of the
monument. Can we trust the City?
We are up to our elbows in Monument work in Dallas Texas on 3 Monument cases one
on the Lee Monument stolen & sold out of Lee Park and all 3 challenging the City of
Dallas on its dirty and illegal schemes to get rid of the Pioneer Cemetery Confederate
war Memorial. Two cases - Return Lee to Lee Park and Carter v Dallas are being
briefed for the Texas Supreme Court - both Petitions for Review are due by the end of
the month. Return Lee challenges the flouting of Texas State Law and Carter chal-
lenges Dallas ignoring state law and its own ordinances & procedures in the dirty
process through 2 City commissions to take down the Monument. The third case still
in a Dallas District Court presided over by the most left leaning radical judge in Texas
challenges Dallas illegally taking down the Pioneer Cemetery Confederate war Memo-
rial without legally required valid Certificate of Demolition. Apparently under current
city thinking - following laws, rules & ordinances is only for peasants - not Royal City
bureaucrats and politicos.
Briefing 2 cases for the Texas Supreme Court is very expensive - but what choice
do we the People have? We must put what pressure we can, in the streets, city hall &
the courts, on the tyrants and enlist our friends & allies to do the same. We are pursu-
ing other avenues as well - more later. Stay with us & support us. And get all your
fence sitting friends, upset about what happened in NOV 2020, working to right the
balance. the time is NOW!

CHARGE TO THE SONS
OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS
“To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the
cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Con-
federate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his
virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love
also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish.”
Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee Commander-General United Confederate Veterans New Orleans, Louisiana 1906
Remember, it is our duty to see that the true history of the South is preserved and
presented to future generations.
Until we meet again, let us remember our obligations to our forefathers, who gave us the
undeniable birthright of our Southern Heritage and the vision, desire and courage to see
it perpetuated.
