Dear Friends and Neighbors,

in 2014, lake tanglewood Emergency Medical Services exceeded over 100 medical calls throughout our service area which consists of Washington Street, East to the Armstrong County line and loop 335, South to Camp Don harrington. lake tanglewood Fire had fire calls in excess of 30 which also included “automatic aid” to randall County Fire within the same service area noted above. This is obviously many less calls than the several previous years and we thank our creator for this.

2015 will be a year when we begin looking at our options to upgrade some of our equipment due to age, failure, wear and tear, and upkeep costs. The first piece of equipment we need to replace is the most valuable resource that we have, our Fire Engine apparatus.

Our current fire engine is a 1992 model Pierce fire truck. While this piece of equipment is still in service it suffers from years of deterioration due to having water in the tank, pump, and the entire plumbing system throughout its life of service (23 years). it is now becoming quite expensive to maintain.

Cost of a NEW fire engine apparatus is in excess of $250,000.00, therefore we will be looking to trade up to a good used quality fire apparatus as the opportunity presents itself. Our current fire engine apparatus will be traded in and should fetch somewhere in the 35-$40,000 range.

We are working to raise funding for this endeavor through ambulance service income, randall County “automatic aid” funding, volunteer fund raising, and donations from lake tanglewood members.

We plan on having multiple fund raising events throughout the year including, Fourth of July and quite possibly a Fall Fish Fry.

if you would consider making a donation to this project, please make donations payable to: lake tanglewood Firetruck replacement and drop by the Corp. Office or give to any lt FirE member.

We believe that lake tanglewood Fire/ EMS provides’ a very valuable service to our community and the surrounding area. lake tanglewood Fire/EMS would like to “thANK YOu” for your continued support of our organization.

Sincerely,ltFirE/EMS members Page 12

Village Notes

As the mayor of Lake Tanglewood I would like to take this opportunity to share a few notes about the village. My intention is to periodically post village news in our monthly newsletter (although I may get absent minded and miss a month).

May general election. Since all candidates are running unopposed, The Village of Lake Tanglewood candidates will not be on the Randall County ballot. Those running unop-posed are mayor: George Moore and aldermen: Gene Wells, Greg Glenn, Jim Rogers, John Lemaster and Robert Hulsey. The aldermen and mayor will be sworn in at the first meeting after the May 9th election. They will serve a two year term.

Dates to remember. July 3rd (Fireworks), July 4th (Parade and picnic), Aug 8th (Tailgate Party).

Lake Tanglewood Police Department. Did you know the Lake Tanglewood Police Department performs Vacation House Checks for residences when members are out of town? Contact the police department (671-0256) to request a Vacation House Check. The Lake Tanglewood police will then check your property for unlocked doors and any suspicious indicators once during each patrol. Should they find an unsecure door or signs of suspicious activity, they will notify you or your emergency contact. In the first two months of 2015, the police department conducted 106 Vacation House Checks.

Village Meetings: The Board of Aldermen meet the second Monday of each month at 6:00PM in the Village Hall meeting room. Meetings are open to the public.

George F. Moore, Mayor
