Thessalonians 5:18
Dear Apostle Church:
On February 28 I was in-
stalled as moderator of the
Presbytery of Milwaukee
(I think it is much like be-
ing the Queen of England,
nothing much to do but
wave!) I was thrilled when
many from Apostle took
the time to come to the
Presbytery meeting to be
witness to this!! It was
easy for me to give thanks
during and at the end of
that day---I had much to be
thankful for. Fast forward
24 hours, and I was at the
other end of the spec-
trum—my brother in law
had been killed in a one
car crash –as the next
hours and days played out
we stood alongside my
sister Connie as she made
funeral arrangements,
made many important de-
cisions that will have life-
long affect, talked with the
coroner and then as she
went thru the funeral pro-
cess, I just was at a loss as
to
what I could give thanks
for. It wasn’t until about a
week later that I could see
some things we could be
thankful for that had come
from this tragic turn of
events. Friends that had
been in a rift for about 5
years, came to worship
together the morning of the
funeral, our kids came and
stayed with us in Marengo
Illinois for days and days,
not leaving until everything
was taken care of, Connie
had many friends and
church family come right
away and they continue to
walk beside her closely. On
and on I could go but I
have come to realize that
when we pause to reflect
we can see different as-
pects of life and think of an
experience in a different
light. Of course a death is
always going to be framed
in sadness but being able to
look inside after the fact, it
does help to see some posi-
tive!!
As we travel the rest of the
way thru Lent and then
Holy Week, I hope you
will have some time to sit
back and think about your
life and it’s events and see
if there is something you
see in a different light. Not
everything that happens to
us is good, but God uses
everything that happens to
work for our good. Some-
times we don't know
whether something is good
or bad, but we know God is
working for our good in
everything.
And for that I give thanks.
See you in church
Cathy

CATHY MANTHEI INSTALLED AS MODERATOR OF THE
MILWAUKEE PRESBYTERY………………………….
A JOYFUL AND SPECIAL EVENT IN THE LIFE OF A VERY WORTHY LADY —RULING ELDER CATHY MANTEI
Apostle Church was well represented at First Presbyterian Church in Clinton Wisconsin when Cathy
Manthei was installed as the new Moderator of the Milwaukee Presbytery. Cathy made everyone of us
very proud to be worshipers under her exceptional leadership at Apostle Church.
Cathy assisted the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, Pastor Courtney Ellis, in adminis-
tering the Sacrament of Holy Communion to all in attendance during the worship service.
Cathy’s leadership ability and leadership style is an obvious reason she was elected to represent the
Presbytery of Milwaukee in this honorable capacity. We were obviously not the only PROUD people at
this meeting. Cathy’s exuberates love and compassion to everyone she meets.
OTHER PRESBYTERY NEWS:
Three Synods are meeting to discuss how they might work together to support the needs of presby-
teries and churches . Synod School is offered to those interested in attending. Can be very informa-
tive.

ages signed up to go but they have room for 55. If you would be interested you can find information
on the website www.kmupc.com and search “mission trip”.
Five persons from Ghana will be here August 26th – September 23, 2012 for their visit to the Presby-
tery. The Ghana Partnership committee is looking for hosts for these guests as well as opportuni-
ties for them to share with congregations. If interested contact Bill Dummer at gardnerdum-
Session Partnership Grants will be accepted before May 1, 2012.
The “ What’s Next Committee” has asked Council to call a special Presbytery Meeting for Tuesday,
April 24th from 6-8 pm to receive their full report and vote on the report. The committee representa-
tives reported that they have been revisiting the current state of Presbytery, recognizing in this
time of uncertainty, the need to embrace change.

In March, Apostle women made 14 hats for the military men and women which were sent to The Ships Project! Thank you to all who continue to work diligently on needed items. The following note was received recently: “I was in Italy recently and had the pleasure of sitting next to a young member of our Army on a two-hour train ride. He was wearing one of (The Ships Project’s) knit black hat. . .That ‘hug from home’ means the world to him. He received it on his first tour in Afghanistan and will take it back in with him when he re-turns in the near future. He wants all. . .to know that (The Ships Project) boxes are welcomed with a lot of excitement, and they are truly appreciated. He is extremely grateful for the total stranger that produced his hat with tender loving care.” Paula K. in California “Team” colored hats and cool ties will be shipped April 2nd. Hope Circle will next meet on Thursday, April 5th at 10 a.m. Please join us to knit, crochet, or make “cool ties”. Contact Shirley Anderson (546-2476) or Marilyn Stone (1-262-763-0918) for additional information.

BOOK STUDY
Beginning at Wednesday April 25, at 630
PM Apostle will be offering a study of the
book THE SHACK by William P Young.
The first half of the book was difficult for me to read as it deals with a horrific
crime against a child but the second half is
about where God intersects the lives affect-
ed—I see the marketing of the book says
“where tragedy meets eternity”. We will
meet in the adult Sunday School room.
Come prepared to discuss the first chapter
on April 25
On Thursday April 19 at 10 AM we will be
starting a Bible study on the book of
Romans. Bring your Bible!!! We will
meet in the adult Sunday School
room.
If you have any questions, please let
Cathy know. Email
Cell phone 262 949 6750
If you have any other study that you
might want offered, please let us
know! We are looking for things that
we can study together.

Cathy
I am hoping that each and every one of you will attend a special Presbytery meet-
ing called for April 24 at Southminister Presbyterian Church in Waukesha. About
18 months ago the Presbytery called together a group of people to take a hard look
at who the Presbytery was and who the Presbytery needs to be going into the fu-
ture. These folks spent hours and hours looking at lots of different aspects of
what we call the Presbytery of Milwaukee. They came to the February Presbytery
meeting with a short report—you can see the slides they presented if you go to
www.pbymilwaukee.org. However, to really give us a well rounded idea, we have
called this special meeting at 6 PM on April 24 to hear the entire report and see
what changes are being proposed. This DOES AFFECT YOU as we are all the
Presbytery of Milwaukee. There are many parts of the new plan (what little I
have heard) that I like but there are some parts that I don’t think I am too crazy
about. I am anxious to hear the entire report and see what these folks have dis-
cerned God is calling us to NEXT—I hope you will be too. If you have any ques-
tions, please let me know. You can follow WHAT’S NEXT on their blog as well
http://milwaukeepresbytery.wordpress.com/
As we go forward in this uncertain time where things change not only in our own
lives but in our church lives, let’s remember to hold up in prayer those folks who
are working so hard to propel us to WHAT IS NEXT
WHAT IS “WHAT’S NEXT “

In Lieu of Flowers" is a tender drama about what happens after the death of Lou Flowers, the popular owner of a suc-
cessful truck stop, The Chatterbox Cafe. Lou was loved and mourned by his employees and friends, but those he left be-
hind are finding out that they did not know him as well as they thought. Who was the woman who appeared at Lou's fu-
neral -- and then in his will? This is a wonderful story of love and loss -- of touching memories and wonderful second
chances.

NEW BEGINNING PRO-
GRAM – SUNDAY
APRIL 22
The New Beginning Contem-
porary Christian Choir will be
presenting their service of
song and praise on Sunday
April 22 for two services;
10:00 am and 7:00 pm. The
12 voice choir has been dili-
gently practicing a wide varie-
ty of music to share with the
Apostle congregation. During
the three months prior to the
program the group practices
each Sunday at night and sev-
eral other rehearsal times to
craft the music into what they
feel will be an inspirational
time for those who listen.
Imagine what God might say
if he answered you when you
say “The Lord’s prayer.” Hear
what we Christians believe
and even watch the puppets
sing. From the first song of
the program “Jesus Is Here –
Anything Can Happen” to the
closing words of “A Mighty
Fortress Is Our God;” the
members feel that this hour of
music and words will be a dy-
namic, worshipful experience.
This might be a good time to
invite your friends to share in
this unique service.
Blessings… Carl

Apostle financially supports mis-sionaries Mark and Sandy Hoeks-tra which enables Mark to contin-ue to serve as president of Talking Bibles International. God is mov-ing in the coastal fishermen’s vil-lage of Machiliphatnam on the Bay of Bengal. In February, 2011, 303 Talking Bibles were placed and 6,000 people heard the message of the gospel. As of December 2011, sixty baptisms have occurred. How did a Talking Bible impact Moggeiah? Read on.
“My name is Moggeiah. I am a welder. I thought Jesus was a low cast God. Pastor Kishore visited me four times. Then he gave me a Talking Bible. I listen to it every day.....and God has done great things for me. My wife left me 2 years ago. When I sought the Lord, he found me and restored my marriage and family. My wife returned home. I now believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I will take baptism on January 1st,
2012. Thank you, my friends from the USA.
Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) with the Presbyterian Church (USA) works with partners to support health ministries in more than 100 hospitals and clinics throughout the world. MBF enables these hospitals and clinics to provide hope and healing to those in need in some of the world’s most impoverished nations and communities. They also help fund medical mission workers.
MBF works with U.S. partners to fill cargo containers with surplus donations of medical supplies and equip-ment, which are then sent to a wide variety of grateful facilities around the world. They also ensure that these items are delivered to the intended persons. MBF goes even further than immediate healing needs by working toward lasting changes that effect whole communities. This includes community health programs, helping to train indigenous healthcare workers and personnel, education programs on disease prevention and nutrition, and more. Apostle provides financial support to MBF enabling medical care to be provided and improved in places around the globe.

Can you believe that 145 pair of socks were collected in February and March on “Sock it to Poverty” Sundays? These socks for men, women and children were donated to Tippe-canoe Presbyterian Church for distribution to homeless persons through their “Homeless Warming Room” Project. Thank you so much for your generosity!
Socks for men, women and children will again be collected on
April 8th. These socks will be donated to the women and children sheltered at the Joy House and the men sheltered at Safe Harbor. These shelters are a part of Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

Hi my name is Molly
Brandos and I am a Pres-
byterian. I am in eighth
grade. I am involved in
two sports: Volleyball
and bowling. I have a
twin sister Mattie. I also
have two cats Trixie and
Phantom and one dog
Max.
I believe in the word of
God which is found in His
Scripture in the Bible.
This Scripture includes
the Ten Commandments.
I believe that these com-
mandments were given to
us to help with my walk
through life the way
God’s son, Jesus Christ,
did. He was sent in our
image to prove that these
rules could be followed by
all of us. I believe we
should obey the rules so
we can have a good rela-
tionship with God and
other people.
Six of these rules help
you with the relationship
between you and other
people, the other four
commandments are the
rules for your relation-
ship between you and
God.
Jesus Christ is my Lord
and my Savior. He was
baptized, died on the
cross for me, and was
given eternal life by be-
ing resurrected. I am
happy that I will be giv-
en the gift of eternal life
because Jesus Christ
died for me and my sins.
God is my Father and I
am one of His many chil-
dren. I am confident
that the Holy Spirit is
with me and I received
it through my Baptism.
My baptism also made
me be part of a bigger
body—my church.
Church is my time to
worship and be thankful
for my faith family and
the praise that I re-
ceive from the mem-
bers of that family. I
can share my good
times and talk through
my bad times.
I believe in the Ten
Commandments be-
cause they show and
teach us the rules of life
as a human and as a
Presbyterian. The Ten
Commandments are for
our way as living as a
good person I believe
that God sacrificed his
life, was crucified died
and was buried for all
our sins.
In conclusion, I believe
that I will teach what I
know about my faith to
others and be able to
continue my faith jour-
ney throughout my life
in this church.

me to celebrate the joys.
Lastly, what is the
Church called to do?
What am I called to do?
The Church is called to
teach the word of God
and I am called to be a
part of it.
I believe in the Ten
Commandments. They
were the rules given to
the followers and I am
one of those followers. I
believe that the Holy
Communion is truly the
body and blood of
Christ who gave up His
life for my sins. I be-
lieve that Jesus’ life
was a life of compassion
which lead to His death
on the cross and His
resurrection for my for-
giveness. I get to see
how vast God’s love is
every day. He contin-
ues to surprise me
through the tragedies of
the world and the small
hurts my in my life. I
know He so strong that
nothing will prevail
against His uncondition-
al love. I believe that no
one can say why there is
evil, but I know God’s
love will triumphant
over evil. Our Lord Je-
sus Christ was crucified
and rose from the dead.
That is His promise that
suffering will come to an
end, that death shall be
no more, and that all
things will be made new.
God created the world an
act of grace.
In conclusion, I believe
that my baptism joined
me to Jesus Christ forev-
er. It is a sign that one
day I will rise with Him
in glory, and may walk
with him even now is
newness of life. I feel
that being part of Sun-
day School, the Confir-
mation Program and
Apostle Presbyterian has
really taught me to be a
Christian. I can now ful-
ly understand the scope
and feel of Gods love.
I’m Mattie Brandos. I am
in eighth grade at Wiscon-
sin Hills Middle School in
Brookfield. I am involved
in two sports—volleyball
and bowling. I have a twin
sister, Molly. I have two
cats, Trixie and Phantom.
I believe in God and His
word, which are the Scrip-
ture. Who is God? God is
my Lord and my Savior.
He is also my Father be-
cause I am a child of God.
Who is Jesus? Jesus is the
son of God and was a car-
penter. He was also a man
who was made in our im-
age and was baptized.
What is the Holy Spirit? I
believe that the Holy Sprit
is inside of you and I. It is
what I carry with me each
day and reminds me of my
faith. What is the Church?
The Church is a time to
praise God and it is the
body of Christ. I believe
that being a part of the
body will help to sustain
me in the most difficult
times of my life and help

Hello! My name is Aliza
Lewitzke: I would LOVE
to be a part of the Apostle
Presbyterian Church and
would like to continue my
Faith Journey. I believe
God is always with me
throughout everything in
my life. He protects me,
keeps me safe and guides
me onto the right path of
life. I believe that God
gives us strength and
courage but we need to
know how to use it. The
church is like my com-
pass, it guides me to the
right path to learn how
to use the gifts God has
given me. I believe that
belonging to the church
will strengthen my rela-
tionship with God and
give me an environment
to join together with
other people to worship
Him.
I was baptized here and
have always been here
and the environment
and people have grown
to be my family. I be-
lieve that becoming a
confirmed member of
the church will show
how I have grown and
are prepared for further
responsibility.
STATE,MENT OF FAITH by Aliza Lewitzke
Sunday, March 19th, we welcomed into the membership and fellowship of Apostle Church, Bob
Spangenberg.
Bob shared with us that he was married in this church 61 years ago and his two daughters were
also married in this church. Bob has been widowed a few years now but has joyfully found his
way back to Apostle. Apostle is where he wants to be and feels it is where he is meant to be.
Bob has never been a member of any church his entire life. He shared that he had a car
accident two years ago and he felt that God spared his life. He professed that God was
looking after him then and is still looking after him now. WELCOME TO OUR APOSTLE
