Thank you to everyone who attended our annual meeting and elections! We saw all of our incumbents get re-elected as well as the return of a former board member. Jay Bain & Kevin Door remain on the board for another 3 year term and please welcome back Keith Ford as a returning member. Betsy Bain was elected to the very important Secretary position and I to the role of Vice President. The PRSC Board of Directors will be sending some of our members to the annual NYSSA Forum in Syracuse, NY. This is an excellent learning opportunity to any of our members who want to participate or get more involved. If you need more information, please contact one of our board members ASAP. Our appointed members this year will be Aaron Fischer, John Buckley, Paul Allen and David Turner. They will be in good company as our local chamber office will have an exhibi- tors booth this year run by Chamber Director Lisa Turner. As a final note…We want to thank everyone who helped our club have a tremendous year despite the lack of help we had from Mother Nature. We look forward to work- ing with many of you in the upcoming months and will publish our next newsletter in July. Enjoy your summer! to take their toll. By March 15 all the groomers were park waiting on the next Nor’easter that never came. The 2009 – 2010 riding season was ex-citing but short. Despite a lack of snowfall and higher then average tem-peratures the groomers did their magic and kept the trail in tip-top shape.

Thank you to all the folks that volunteered their time to make the trails enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Club membership grew again this year. We ended up with 812 mem-berships. In addition to our new newsletter format, we are working on a re-design of our website. Stay turned for the launch of the new site.

The PRSC Board of Directors decided to raffle another snowmobile for the 2010-2011 season. The sled will be purchased locally. This will

be our only fundraiser so please help out by selling tickets. They will be mailed to all members in the near future.

Our next meeting will be at Zeiser’s on Wednesday, April 14th at 7pm

NYSSA again chose Hamilton County to host the 3rd Annual Adirondack Trails Conference at the movie theatre in Indian Lake. Approximately 50-60 area snowmobilers attended the informative 3 hour session with presentations from representatives of NYSSA, NYSDEC, NYS OPRHP (Parks), NYSDOT, as well as a private group looking for support for a 26 mile rail trail project to the old Tawahas Iron Mine in Newcomb, Essex Hamilton County. Please plan on attending next year if you didn’t this time. Thanks to Dave Perkins at NYSSA for giving our area issues such high visibility.

1. Jessup River Wild Forest UMP Amendment: Comment deadline has ended and we are waiting to hear about next steps from NYSDEC.

2. Annual Raid on State Snowmobile Fund: NYSSA has mounted a multi-prong campaign including letter writing, Ad Campaigns, Meetings with Legislators, Comptroller, and Governors office. At this time there no conclusion on this issue. If you haven’t done so yet, please write to your Legisla-tors, contact information and sample letters can be found on the NYSSA website. ITS NEVER TOO LATE!

3. NYSSA Annual Meeting April 16-18, 2010 in Syracuse NY. Dave and Lisa Turner, Aaron and Maureen Fischer, Paul Allen, and John Buckley will represent PRSC at the meeting.

4. At the Adirondack Conference we learned that the first ten UMPs to be evaluated will include Moose River Plains, Wilcox Lake, and Ferris Lake, likely in this order with others in between, and spread over the next year. Visit www.dec.ny.gov/lands/4979.html to stay abreast on UMP Hearings and comment opportunities, particularly over the summer when you least expect to talk about snowmobiling issues.

5. There are new and more stringent rules going into effect for working on NYS Lands under our Stewardship Agreement, mainly requirements to plan ahead better by requiring approved work plans and to log work done. In return for more paperwork, we are going to be allowed to do more trail development with the force of law behind us to do projects we have needed for a long time, including widening the Spy Lake Trail.
