Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Verse 1 We receive the One who would listen to the call of a love that asks us to give our lives for all. Who would live in fear of a world that cannot give of the simple gifts that others need to live. Verse 2 We receive the bread that would ask us each to grow and become the body through which God’s graces flow. As we take, we vow with our lives to serve the grace that can see God’s image shine in ev’ry face. Refrain 1 And we’ll feed Him in the hungry; we will seek the sage’s words from a child. Bread of life; cup of promise; One life that all lives may be reconciled. So we’ll wed Him to the lonely; we’ll unearth a priceless pearl in the poor. Lamb of God, Healing Word; help us become the Christ we now adore. Verse 3 We receive the cup filled with life for ev’ry soul; from a heart once broken to make a world whole. We receive the body we hope one day to be; signs of love and faith, hope and charity. Refrain 2 And we’ll hold fast to the broken; we will see His glorious light in the blind; Bread of life; cup of promise; bringing God’s favor to all human-kind; and we’ll sing with all the voiceless; we’ll share endless joy through hearts fresh with grief. Morning star; Light of Love, let serving others serve as our belief. Bridge And we’ll live to give life. And we’ll love to know love.
