Centering Words

Darkness is falling. Our journey ends here, at the foot of the cross. Our journey ends where love comes to die.

Prelude

Lamb of God Twila Paris/Bill Wolaver, 1985

Via Dolorosa Borop/Sprague, 1983/Kurt Kaiser, 2011

Beneath the Cross of Jesus (Tune: St. Christopher)

Robert W. Thygerson, 2000

Call to Worship (John 19)

When we are lost and lonely, Jesus, remember me.

When worry threatens to crush our spirits, Jesus, remember me.

When our words wound the people we love, Jesus, remember me.

When we treat others with contempt and disdain. Jesus, remember me.

When we come into God’s kingdom. Jesus, remember me.

Welcome me home.

Hymn “Jesus, Remember Me” UMH #488

Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Opening Prayer John 19)

Lord, our journey ends here, at the foot of the cross.

Darkness is falling. The crowd is restless. Our hearts

break, as your cries pierce the night. Stay with us,

Lord, for we need you close at hand. And when the

night is over and the journey continues, give us the

courage to stay with you. Amen.

Scripture Reading John 18:1-19:42 Various Readers

Special Music “The Crucifixion”

Samuel Barber, Op. 29, No. 5 Solo: Dr. Patrick Newell

Message “It Is Finished” Pastor Craig Collins

Special Music “Were You There “ Arr. H. T. Burleigh

Solo: Lauren Newell

Where you there when they crucified my Lord? (were you there)

Where you there when they crucified my Lord? (were you there)

Oh! Sometimes it caused me to tremble, tremble, tremble.

Were you there when they crucified my Lord? (were you there)

Where you there when they laid him in the tomb? (were you there)

Where you there when they laid him in the tomb? (were you there)

Oh! Sometimes it caused me to tremble, tremble, tremble.

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb? (were you there)

Closing Prayer

Postlude “Jesus Paid It All”
