Term 1, Week 11 Tuesday, 10th April 2018

Wow! Its extraordinary Term One is almost complete. What a wonderful beginning to 2018 we have had. The students at Forbes North have been involved in so many activities it is hard to name them all. A highlight was definitely the success of our fete! Students have also earned two whole school celebrations based on our PBL values of being Safe, Respectful and Responsible learners. Our first celebration was the technology session held in Week 9 and our second is a casual clothes day to be held this Thursday, 12th April. On Friday this week we will have our school Cross Country Carnival commencing from 10:00am at the Forbes Racecourse. On Wednesday 25th April (second week of the school holidays) our school will be marching in the ANZAC Day march. Students are asked to meet in Cross Street (outside Tyrepower) from 10:00am dressed in their summer uniform. No hats are required. Enjoy the holidays. Students resume back to school on Tuesday 1st May.

Nick Doyle, Assistant Principal Cross County Friday 13th April: This Friday, the school cross country will be run at the Forbes Racecourse commencing at 10:30am. Notes were sent home yesterday and it is expected that all students who are turning 8 years old this year or older will participate. Buses will have us at the racecourse ready for a 10:30am start. Parents and carers are invited to watch. Parents wishing to take their child home after their event need to sign their child out with a member of staff. The top 3 students in each category are eligible to participate at the District Cross Country carnival on Friday 25th May at Forbes Racecourse. Russell Richardson Cup / David Peachey Shield: Last week, 46 students travelled to Condobolin for the Russell Richardson / David Peachy Shield (rugby league). All students were a pleasure to take away to this event. They showed wonderful sportsmanship and supported each other to try their best. I would like to thank Mr Chris Hancock for helping manage a team as well as Mrs Kim Clarke and Ms Kath Wighton for assisting me on the day. In preparation for the colder weather: Please do not send students to school with food that needs to be reheated or cooked. This is a Work Health and Safety issue. Canteen staff and or school staff are not permitted to reheat food of any kind or add boiling water to noodles etc. Please explain this to your child so they understand this rule.

School Photo Shoot Key Information: Your child’s school photo shoot key information has been sent home and it was activated on Thursday 5th April, 2018. Please go the Cliff Dykes Photography website after this date and order online before Thursday 26th April, 2018. CREATE LASTING MEMORIES: Another Order Form for the Forbes North P&C Tea Towel Fundraiser was sent home yesterday. Don’t miss out on the chance to order one of these tea towels and also help support our wonderful P&C who do marvellous work for our school. The teach towels are $15 each.

Dental Clinic: Clinic will be conducted at school next term on Thursday 17th May by local Western NSW Local Health District Dental Clinic staff. Please return your note, if you wish to participate, to school as soon as possible before the end of term 1.

Term 1, Week 11 Tuesday, 10th April 2018

Worm Farm Report Newsletter Edition:

I started doing the worm farm in 2017. Each day I have to check the worms and do the soil temperature. This has to be done because the soil is meant to be between 15 degrees and 20 degrees to keep the worms healthy. Temperatures higher than 20 degrees can cause the worms to die. We have a worm farm to then use their castings and slurry as our fertilizer in our school garden.
