Southbest Sales Center is a hardware store that sells a variety of

construction supplies. Ever since it was established in 2002, Southbest Sales

Center has been employing the manual process of keeping track of its inventory.

The manual inventory system can hardly keep up with the thousands of inventory

that Southbest Sales Center manages. Moreover, the growing number of

purchases and sales to record every transaction, it was getting difficult to

manage. Physical count is the only way to assess the number of inventory

wherein it takes three to five days to finish the inventory count. If the owner

wished to know an accurate inventory count, it would be necessary to close the

store for the day. In connection with this, the opportunity cost which is the income

that would have been earned if it didn’t close the store will be gone.

To solve this problem of Southbest Sales Center, the researchers decided

to come up with a computerized inventory system that is designed to simplify the

process of keeping track of inventory count. This is to help the owner ease the

burden of manually counting inventories annually.

The development of Computerized Inventory System for Southbest Sales

Center involves the reviewing and analyzing of different concepts of system

analysis and design. Series of interviews conducted with the owner of the

hardware store became the primary source of information for the study to obtain

valid and accurate data. On the other hand, secondary data were collected from

printed materials like research studies, related books, and internet sources.

The research design method used in the study is the Descriptive Method

which is the combination of both qualitative and quantitative method. Microsoft

Visual Basic 6.0 was used in programming the proposed system. The study was

conducted in a period of three months, from the planning of the system to design

up to the finalization of the paper and program interface itself.
