Applied Groundwater Modeling Using Visual MODFLOW Flex Date: 23rd- 24th September 2017 Schedules: 9:00 – 17:00 Minimum and maximum number of participants: 15/30 Price: (includes lunches and refreshments during breaks): 500 EUR regular fee 300 EUR student fee 750 EUR fee for non congress participants Instructors: Jacob George from Waterloo Hydrogeologic All attendees should bring their own laptop computer Register today for this 2-day course: An introduction to Waterloo Hydrogeologic’s premier groundwater modeling software – Visual MODFLOW Flex

What is this course about? Applied Groundwater Modeling with Visual MODFLOW Flex is a two-day course designed to introduce course participants to the Visual MODFLOW Flex interface, and to provide an understanding of:

Conceptual and Numerical modeling workflows Fundamentals of finite difference flow modeling using MODFLOW Principles of efficient model grid design using Visual MODFLOW Flex Particle tracking using MODPATH to model the movement of particles through a flow

system Contaminant transport processes and simulation using MT3DMS Basics of building groundwater models with Un-structured grids using MODFLOW-

USG Visualization model input and model results in 2 and 3-dimensional views

Groundwater modeling is an important part of many hydrogeologic projects, and MODFLOW and MT3D are industry standards in groundwater flow and solute transport modeling programs. The course consists of lectures and comprehensive hands-on exercises taught by one of our well-experienced instructors and incorporates real-world problems. The lecture presentations illustrate how the Visual MODFLOW Flex program works. The lab exercises are point-by-point descriptions of how to use Visual MODFLOW Flex to develop a variety of groundwater models. Each exercise represents a different application of groundwater modeling, and provides different views of the tools in Visual MODFLOW Flex to help with model development, calibration and visualization of results.

Who should attend? This course is ideally suited for hydrogeologists, engineers and environmental scientists with some knowledge of field investigation and hydrogeologic data who wish to understand more
