Applied Anatomy and Oral Surgery for Dental Students.- -By Robert H, Ivt, m.d., d.d.s. W. B. Saunders Co.
The first part of this work deals with the
anatomy of the face and neck. The facts are
necessarily given in a somewhat concentrated form and the student would do well to combine his study of them by reference to a larger anatomical text-book, The illustrations of dissections and sections are plain and good. There is a brief but excellent chapter on the cranial nerves with a tabulation of their distribution and functions; anaesthesia, both local and general, is dealt with in more detail with special attention to nitrous oxide and
oxygen as being that most often suitable for
dental operations. The latter portion of the book deals with the diseases and injuries of the teeth and of the mouth generally, in so far as they come under the notice of the dental
surgeon, and is illustrated by numerous plates. Not only should this little work prove of great value to the dental student but a perusal of it could not fail to be of advantage to the medical
student, whose knowledge of this most
important branch of surgery is unfortunately too often of a rather sketchy description.
