HRSGs are an excellent way to capture more value from the fuel budget. Achieving the most from a HRSG requires that the generators operate as effi-cient as possible. To increase efficiency and reduce maintenance cost, power plants install penetration boiler seals to lower energy loss. Penetration seals not only help reduce the maintenance load and risk of an unplanned outage, they protect personnel and attached equipment.

Fabric Penetration SealsFabric penetration seals offer many benefits and are ideal for installation on boilers where space is limited. They provide greater lateral and axial movement ca-pability over metal seals and their unique clamping design prevents over-extension failure.

These seals are internally insulated with outer cover temperature ranging between 200°F and 350°F; depending on ventilation and proximity to other heat sources. Also, the internal pipe insulation does not compress during movement and is rated at 1400°F.

More importantly these seals are gas tight and mini-mize escaping heat and gases to protect nearby per-sonnel and the environment.

PenSeal Plus® Clamshell Retrofit SealsClamshell seals perform the same service as normal seals, but the life expectancy of a clamshell seal is de-pendent on the quality of the convolution weld made by an experienced T.I.G. welder during installation.

EagleBurgmann Field Services provides onsite per-sonnel to perform this weld, when required. Standard clamshell seal designs are available and we also build specialized clamshell bellows to suit individual cus-tomer’s needs.

Metal Penetration SealsPipe penetration seals are used to allow tubes or pipes to expand thermally by penetrating the shell or pressure casing.

Metal seals are designed to accept axial, lateral and angular movements therefore, lowering the stress on the tubes and pipes to which they are attached. Metal seals also provide good insulation between the boiler wall and the attachment ring.

Pipe penetration seals can accommodate most ap-plications from original manufacturer to retrofits of existing installations. High operating temperatures typically keeps the temperature in the bellows warm enough to prevent media from condensing which can cause corrosion if the media condenses and collects in the lower end of the seal during operation.

Metal boiler seals are designed to accept axial, lateral and angular movements therefore, lowering the stress on the connecting tubes and pipes.

PS Seal® - Slider Seal ReplacementsWith budgets tighter than ever, power plants are em-bracing a new generation of boiler penetration slider seals that can lower energy loss, while significantly reducing the maintenance load and risk of unplanned outage.

Features of Penetration Slider Seals:

� Uses a floating ring design with patented stainless steel flow reducing seals in contact with the pen-etration pipe outside diameter and lateral move-ment plates.

� Compressed seals on assembly to provide minimal gas leakage during operation. As particulates build up in the seal and further restricts passage of gas, the gas leakage in the seal increasingly reduces over time.

� The stainless steel wire mesh seal can be replaced easily during shutdowns eliminating the need to replace the entire unit.

� Available in standard sizes, 2” – 24” nominal di-ameter

� Axial movement is unlimited. Standard seals are designed for 1/4” and 1” lateral movements. These units will also accommodate the angular move-ment frequently present from pipe distortion.

More importantly these seals may be disassembled and repaired without cutting metal piping or welds. No need for specially trained welders to install the replacements.
