INVENTORS, MANUFACTURERS & DEVELOPERS OF SPECIALIST EQUIPMENTFOR EOD & CBRN ENVIRONMENTSMMIC EOD are inventors, manufacturersand developers of specialist equipment forEOD and CBRN environments. We have aflair for thinking differently with the ethos“we will find a way or make one”. Ourexpertise is varied, with backgrounds inexplosives, EOD/IEDD, engineering,electronics and chemistry.

How We WorkOur work is underpinned by 4 key ideas;• Invention• Expertise & Experience• Persistence• FlexibilityWe do have a genuinely differentapproach. Through our operationalexperience we know it is not good enoughto just think about our part in the process.An EOD team has work through manydifferent steps when dealing with a deviceand our work is designed to be as focusedon the user’s goal as they are.

The Advantages ofInvasive Technology

Sampling and Disposal of HazardousSealed Vessels and Systems

MMIC EOD has built its reputation in thefield of invasive technologies for theinvestigation and disposal of CB devices.Disposal of these devices presents twodistinct challenges;

• What is inside them• How to dispose of them without

contaminating the surrounding areaThere are many non-invasive techniqueson the market but most are ineffective athandling sealed containers. Those that can“see” inside can be easily fooled. Completecertainty is only achieved by the analysisof a physical sample from inside thedevice. The problem is how to do thatwithout allowing the contents tocontaminate the adjoining environment.

Additionally, non-invasive techniques donot assist when tackling the second issue.Where a device cannot be moved it mustbe disposed of in-situ. Near sensitive

targets blowing in place (BIP) is not anoption as it will simply do the terrorists jobfor them. In these circumstances invasivetechnology provides a vital capability.

Not only can it penetrate any devicewithout releasing the contents but itallows operators to sample, drain,neutralize and investigate devices throughone hole with no risk to the surroundingarea. All this can be done minutes afterarrival on-site. In addition, preservation ofthe device allows for excellent evidentialcollection to assist criminal investigationsand prosecutions.

CBRN and EODProducts

MMIC EOD has a wide range of specialistEOD and CBRN equipment. Our rangeincludes;

CBR EOD –Investigation and

Disposal Equipment• In-situ sampling & disposal of CB

munitions and IEDs• Any agent, target, size, shape

or material• Fast, safe investigation and disposal

MMIC EOD lead the way in developingequipment which can invasivelyinterrogate and dispose of a wide range ofmunitions and other vessels. This rangesfrom our flagship Monica system forCBEOD operations to the hand held Midassystem for rapid sampling of sealedcontainers.

CBRN Disposal and Containment Systems• Portable equipment for draining and

decontamination of CB devices

Our MATS equipment offers a uniquecapability for the draining anddecontamination of munitions in-situ.Additionally we have a range of portablecontainment systems for thetransportation of hazardous materials.

EOD Equipment• Innovative Solutions to EOD

Challenges

At MMIC EOD we pride ourselves onlooking at conventional EOD problemsslightly differently. From our unique MATETrepanning system, which cuts disposaltimes in half, to our Matilda Fuze Removalsystem we have a range of equipmentwhich significantly assists EOD operations.

SupportWe know that our clients will use ourequipment in harsh environments. Oursupport is more than a free phone number.Firstly, all our kit can be maintained by theoperator in the field, saving time and cost.Secondly, our kit comes with spares asstandard items to minimise downtime.Additionally, our teams will deploy intheatre to assist with maintenance ifnecessary. We also offer full servicing andupgrades packages, depending on userrequirements.

TrainingOur equipment always comes fullysupported by a comprehensive trainingpackage. In our time we have trained unitsin theatre all over the world. The trainingcovers operational use and in-unitservicing. In addition we offer specialisttraining on many aspects of EOD andCBRN.

Marshall Land Systems has been responsiblefor the design, manufacture, fit out andintegrated logistics for the 11 shelters fittedonto MOWAG Duro II 6X6 vehicles, whichprovide a two person tactical workingenvironment and form the TacticalInformation and Geospatial Analysis System(TIGAS). Marshall has also delivered threedeployable shelters, which are used as theTactical Map Deployment Point (TMDP) andalso staffed by two people.

“This UK designed and built system elevatesthe collection, dissemination andeffectiveness of GEOINT on the battlefieldto a new level,” said Ray Cutting, Director ofMarshall Land Systems, adding “We aredelighted to have worked as part of TeamSOCRATES under the management ofLockheed Martin to deliver this systemwhich will provide a real added benefit forcommanders in the field. The interest which

Snap Dragon™ StealthElevation Solution

The Snap Dragon was developed as a resultof customer research that indicated the needfor a fast, robust and low-profile, elevationsolution for cameras and other sensors. TheSnap Dragon has a combination of distinctivefeatures that make it particularly well suitedto meet the challenges of field operationsand border surveillance. A five to one deployto stow ratio allows payloads to be hiddenwhen not in use affording protection forthese sensor payloads. Two power optionsare available, each providing unique benefitsto meet specific mission requirements. Acompressed air system provides silent powerand extremely fast deployment andretraction of the payload in just 2 seconds.An electro-mechanical option allows forprecise positioning of the sensor at anyheight.

Persistent surveillance is possible with theOn-The-Move capable Snap Dragon. Theinherently strong structure allows forwheeled vehicle OTM execution up to 15mph (24 kmph). The robust design is not onlyOTM capable it also performs in harshenvironments. Powered retraction of thesystem ensures that the payload can bebrought down in ice and snow. Dust and dirtwill not affect the performance of themoving parts. These capabilities aredelivered by a system that requires very littlemaintenance and will provide optimal sensorpositioning cycle after cycle.
