1. Introduction SecureDoc v2.0 is an application for an electronic signature and time stamp creation and verification. SecureDoc v2.0 application:

• handles qualified and non-qualified certificates issued by: EuroCert, CenCert (Enigma), KIR, PWPW and Certum (Asseco),

• enables a signature creation in the XAdES, PAdES formats,

• enables stamping a document with a qualified time stamp,

• enables the verification of an electronic signature and time stamp.

2. Hardware requirements Minimal requirements which guarantee proper running of the SecureDoc v2.0 application:

• Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 or higher,

• Charismathics Smart Security Interface – application for smart card management,

• Internet connection (necessary only when using the verification function).

3. Application installation To install the application go to https://eurocert.pl/index.php/en-us/software and download „SecureDoc 2 – application for an electronic signature creation and verification”. To install the application „SecureDoc” -> follow the dialog windows below.

4. Signing

4.1. Types of signatures

All types of signatures presented below are legally equivalent to each other. If you do not know what type of signature you are bound to use, choose the default settings.

4.1.1. Types of signatures due to their formats:

− PAdES – dedicated exclusively to sign PDF files. If you choose this option the signature will be created in an enveloping format and will be visible when the file is opened in PDF file editor;

− XAdES – dedicated to sign all types of files (including PDF). XAdES signature can be created in detached, enveloped or enveloping format.

4.1.2. Types of signatures due to the signature parameters

4.1.2.1. Signature variant

− XAdES-BES or PAdES-BES – basic variant of the signature, which does not contain a time stamp,

− XAdES-T or PAdES-T – extended variant of the signature which contains a time stamp (date of the signature). To use this option you shall buy a paid service of time stamping, which is available in our internet store: https://sklep.eurocert.pl/.

4.1.2.2. Signature type

− Detached – the file with a XAdES extension doesn’t contain content of a signed document but contains exclusively the information about the signature. However these two files are cryptographically connected so you should keep both (for example during the verification of the signed document);

− Enveloped – the file with a XAdES extension contains both: content of a signed document content and the proofs of signing (2in1);

− Enveloping – type of enveloped signature but only for XML files.

4.1.2.3. Digest algorithm

− SHA-256 – cryptographic algorithm, the higher the number, the higher security. We recommend using this function and higher.

4.2. Adding a file to be signed

Adding a file to be signed can be done in two ways:

• Button „Add file” – in a new window select files which you wish to sign;

• Button „Add directory” – in a new window select a directory which contains files to be signed. You do not have to select all the files separately.

Selected files will be added to the list of files to be signed. If you wish to remove a file from the list, please select the file (it must be highlighted) and click the button “Delete file”. To delete all the files from the list, select the button „Clear list”.

4.3. Creating a signature To sign a document please follow the steps below: Step 1. Select the type of the signature. Before choosing XAdES-T make sure that you have bought and configured the access to time stamps’ server (Settings tab).

Step 2. Please add the files you wish to sign.

Step 3. Click „Sign files”.

Step 4. Read and accept the information.

Step 5. Select your certificate and press „OK”.

Step 6. Enter your PIN and press „Log in” or “OK”.

If the PIN is correct, the application will initiate the process of signing.

Step 7. Check the signature status. If the document has been properly signed, you will receive the “Signed” status. If there has been an error, your status will be „Not signed”.

4.4. Adding additional signatures

If you wish to add additional XAdES signature, please add file with a XAdES extension and follow the steps described in the “creating the signature” procedure. In the “Add Signature” window, please select “Add Signature” option. When creating a detached signature please make sure that the file with a XAdES extension is located in the same place as the signed document. The same procedure applies to verification of a signed document – see “Verification”. For PAdES signature please add the file with „-sig” annotation and follow the standard procedure of creating the signature.

5. Verification 5.1. Adding a file to be verified

Files can be added by selecting „Add file” and then selecting a file to be verified in a pop-up window. Selected files will be added to a list of files to be verified. If you wish to delete any of the selected files from the list, please select the chosen file (it must be highlighted) and click „Delete file”. To delete all the files from the list, please select „Clear list”. You can simultaneously add files of different signature type to the list. If a file is signed with a detached signature, please add only the file with a XAdES extension to the list. Please also remember to place both the XAdES file and the signed document in the same location (folder). Otherwise, the application will not be able to refer to the signed document. With respect to an enveloped XAdES signature it is enough to select a XAdES file.

5.2. File verification

Step 1. Add files which you wish to verify.

Step 2. Click „Verify files”. Please make sure you have an Internet connection while verifying the file.

Step 3. Please wait for the feedback on verification status.

Depending on the verification outcome you can have one of these statuses:

• „Correctly verified”,

• „Incorrectly verified”. If you wish to know what caused incorrect verification, please select the incorrectly verified file and click “Show report”. You can also view the signed document by selecting „Show document”.

6. Settings

6.1. Time stamps

To use time stamps you need to configure the access to time stamps’ server. To do so you need to have configuration data from EuroCert:

• Address of the server of time stamps– customized access link to the server of time stamps,

• User name – customized login,

• Password – customized password (no changes possible). The user receives configuration data upon purchasing an additional service of timestamping in the webstore: https://sklep.eurocert.pl/.
