Aquiles Priester hasalready done more than500 DRUM CLINICS in various countries and has taken part of thebiggest drum festivalsaround the world.

DRUM CLINICS AND FESTIVALS

Born in South Africa, he moved to Brazilwhile still a child, spending his childhoodand part of his adolescence in Foz doIguaçu, a city in the state of Paraná.

In 1988 he moved to Porto Alegre and in1997 he founded heavy metal band Hangarwhere he began developing the style thatwould make him known worldwide.

With Hangar he released 8 studio albumsand 2 DVDs.

HANGAR

The first parallel project while still with the band Hangar were some gigs with Tritone in 1999, a kind ofBrazilian G3 with Edu Ardanuy, Frank Solari and Serj Buss. Soon after Aquiles was invited to recordand go on tour with Paul Di’Anno, former Iron Maiden singer. This resulted in the album Nomad and atour that included various Brazilian cities in 2000.

In 2001 he joined the band Angra and recorded the album Rebirth, which went gold record in Brazil.After six years and three studio albums, an EP and a live CD/DVD, Aquiles left the band.

A short while before, in 2006, he released a CD with the Freakeys project, an instrumental rock groupformed by Aquiles, Felipe Andreoli, Fábio Laguna and Eduardo Martinez and which presented atotally different musical approach to all other albums released by the drummer so far.

TRAJECTORY

Aquiles Priester released products directed tothe drum world that became best sellers, amongthem two educational DVDs: Inside My Drums(2004) and The Infallible Reason of My FreakDrumming (2010) voted 3rd best educationalDVD of the world by American Modern Drummermagazine in 2011.

He also released a textbook on the study of thedouble bass called Inside My PsychoBook – 100Double Bass Patterns (2007).

And finally, he released his first play along bookcalled PsychOctopus Play Along (2014).

In 2013 he released his acclaimedDVD Aquiles Priester’s Top 100Drum Fills that was also nominatedfor voting in the North Americanmagazine “Modern DrummerReaders Poll 2014”, being electedbest educational DVD of the year.In the 37 years of existence of themost highly regarded drummagazine of the world, Aquilesplaces Brazil in first place of themost important and covetedranking of worldwide drums, anunheard of feat for a Braziliandrummer until then. And finally, he released his firstplay along book calledPsychOctopus Play Along (2014).

Besides the educational products, in 2010 Aquiles alsoreleased his autobiography "Aquiles Octopus Priester– From Fan to Idol" - that’s on its 2nd edition.

In 2010, he was one of seven drummers chosen from all over the world to take part ofan audition to substitute Mike Portnoy in the North-American band Dream Theater –with Aquiles were Mike Mangini, Peter Wildoer, Marco Minnemann, Virgil Donati, DerekRoddy and Thomas Lang. After the audition, he was indicated by John Petrucci, DreamTheater’s guitar player, he met the world famous guitar player Tony MacAlpine, withwhom he went on tour in the beginning of 2012. In 2010 and 2013 he also went on tourwith another American guitar virtuoso, Vinnie Moore.

Mapex provides the instrumentsused by him and in 2006 createdthe drum kit Mapex Limited EditionAquiles Priester and, in 2013,released a signature snare,Aquiles Priester's PsychOctopusBlack Panther Snare, worldwide.

On the other hand Paiste, thecymbal manufacturer, wasn’t farbehind. In the beginning of 2009they released the PST5 LimitedEdition Aquiles Priester in theBrazilian market and in July of 2012the signature ride 2002PsychOctopus Giga Bell Ride 18"worldwide.

AQUILES BECAME THE FIRSTBRAZILIAN DRUMMER TO HAVESIGNATURE PRODUCTSRELEASED WORLDWIDE BYINTERNATIONAL DRUM BRANDS.

PRODUCTS RELEASED

Still in 2013, he was invited by guitar player Tony MacAlpineto record his new solo album Concrete Gardens and tookpart of the recording of a live DVD with him at EMGtv in 2014.

He also took part of the recordings of albums of bandsBlackwelder (United States) and Hevillan (Brazil).

In 2014, besides all the releases of your new band Noturnall,Aquiles released another album with Hangar, The Best Of 15Years,Based On A True Story…, as well as his first instrumentalalbum, Our Lives, 13 Years Later... with the famed Brazilianguitarist Gustavo Carmo.

In 2015, About2Crash released three singles and a full albumin the second semester. The band also play at Rock in RioFestival 30 Years.

In 2016, three more important releases: an album by theband Hangar, Stronger Than Ever; a live DVD with Hangar,Hangar Live in Brusque/SC, Brazil and a DVD with guitarplayer Gustavo Carmo called Our Lives, 15 Years Yearslater…Live in Studio!

RECORDINGS

Besides having built a solid international career,Aquiles Priester is also member of one of thebiggest revelations of Brazilian metal scene in thelast ten years, the band Noturnall, that performed atRock in Rio Festival 2015.
