As Director of Game Operations, I extend my warmest welcome on behalf of Appalachian State University. We are pleased to provide you with this visiting team guide to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Inside this guide are directions to our facilities, preferred dining, and lodging options. Also included are important phone numbers, ticket information and maps of our campus.

In this guide, you will find information about restaurants, hotels, hospitals, directions to our facilities, and other helpful information for your time here in the mountains. If you are planning on staying an evening or two during your visit, please contact the listed hotels for their rates since they tend to fluctuate during the year.

Directions to Boone

• On I-77: Take I-77 South to Hwy 421. Take Hwy 421 North. • On Hwy 221: Take Hwy 221 South until it meets Hwy 421. Take Hwy 421 North . • On I– 85: Take I-85 South. I-85 and I-40 become one highway in Durham, NC.

Take I-85/I-40 westbound towards Greensboro. I-85 will split from I-40 in Greensboro, NC. Stay on I-40 West towards Winston-Salem. Continue on I-40 until you reach Hwy 421 North, which is just after the Winston-Salem exits. Take Hwy 421 North.

• On I–77: Take I-77 North to Hwy 421. Take Hwy 421 North • On Hwy 321: Take Hwy 321 North through Lenoir and Blowing Rock. Hwy 321 merges together with Hwy 221 North. Take Hwy 321/221 North to Boone.

If Coming from the East:

• On I– 40: Take I– 40 West until you reach the Hwy 421 North exit, which is just past the Winston-Salem exits. Take Hwy 421 North.

If Coming from the West:

• On I-40: Take I-40 East until you reach Hwy 321 North in Hickory. Take Hwy 321 North, which merges with Hwy 221 North in Blowing Rock. Go 10 miles on Hwy 321/221 from Blowing Rock to reach Boone.

• On Hwy 321: Take Hwy 321 East. • On Hwy 19: Take Hwy 19 East to State Road 194 North. Take 194 to Hwy 321. Take Hwy 321 South.

If Coming From the North:

PARKING AND DIRECTIONS TO THE

HOLMES CONVOCATION CENTER

Parking: During home basketball and volleyball events, the lots behind the Holmes Convocation Center, the Hill Street parking lot and the John E. Thomas parking lot are for permit parking only. Free public parking is available in ASU academic lots in spaces that are not reserved after 5pm and parking is available on Rivers St. in the bike lanes.

Disability Parking: A limited number of handicap spaces are available near the Holmes Convocation Center and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking attendants will direct you to the correct lot.

Directions:

US 321N from Blowing Rock: Follow Hwy 321N to the intersection of Hwy 321 & Rivers Street. Then left on Rivers Street. The Holmes Convocation Center will be on your left.

US 421N/US 321S from Tennessee: Follow Hwy 421/321 into Boone to the 2nd traffic light in the city limits at the intersection of Hwy 321/421/King Street & Depot Street. Turn right on Depot Street and follow it to the intersection of Depot Street & Rivers Street. Turn left on Rivers Street. The Holmes Convocation Center will be on your right at the end of Rivers Street.

US 421S From Wilkes County: Follow Hwy 421 to the intersection of Hwy 421 & Hardin St. Turn left on Hardin St. Go to the second light, which is Rivers St. and turn right. The Holmes Convocation Center will be on your left.

NC 105 From Avery County: Follow Hwy 105 into Boone to the intersection of Hwy 105 & 321. Take a left onto Hwy 321. Follow Hwy 321N to the intersection of Hwy 321 & Rivers Street. Take left on Rivers Street. The Holmes Convocation Center will be on your left.

DIRECTIONS TO KIDD BREWER STADIUM From the northeast via Interstate 81 and Interstate 77:

Take I-81 south to I-77, west of Radford, Va. Proceed south on I-77 into North Carolina. Exit onto Hwy 421 North and travel approximately 50 miles to Boone. In Boone, turn left at the light at Hardin St. and then right onto Rivers St., which is the second light. Once on Rivers St. turn left onto Stadium Dr., which is the second light and then right into the Kidd Brewer Stadium parking areas.

From the south via Interstate 77:

Proceed north on I-77 through Charlotte and Statesville. Continue on I-77 North until you reach the I-77/HWY 421 interchange. Exit onto Hwy 421 North and travel approximately 60 miles to Boone. In Boone, turn left at light onto Hardin St. and then right at the second light at Rivers St. At the second light, turn left onto Stadium Dr. and then right into the Kidd Brewer Stadium parking areas.

From the west via Interstate 40 (Asheville and/or Hickory):

In Asheville, take I-40 East to Hwy 221 in Marion. Exit onto Hwy 221 North and follow to Linville. In Linville, take Hwy 105 North to Boone. In Boone, at the intersection of Hwy 105 & 321, turn left onto Hwy 321 North. Turn left at the third light at Rivers St. At the second light, turn left onto Stadium Dr. and then right into the Kidd Brewer Stadium parking areas.

When traveling on I-40 in the Hickory area, exit onto Hwy 321 North and travel approximately 50 miles to Boone. Follow Hwy 321 North to Rivers St. Turn left on Rivers St. At the second light, turn left onto Stadium Dr. and then right in to the Kidd Brewer Stadium parking areas.

From the east via Interstate 40 and Interstate 85: Proceed to Winston-Salem on I-40. Exit onto Hwy 421 North in Winston-Salem and travel approximately 80 miles to Boone. In Boone, turn left at light onto Hardin St. and then right onto Rivers St. At the second light on Rivers St. turn left onto Stadium Dr. and then right into the Kidd Brewer Stadium parking areas.

DIRECTIONS TO FACILITIES

ASU Soccer Stadium at Ted Mackorell Complex: On Hwy 421 North from Winston Salem: Take Hwy 421 North to the Brookshire Rd. Take a Right off of Hwy 421 onto Brookshire Road. Stay right on Brookshire Rd. The Soccer Field will be on your right. Bus parking will be between the two turf fields.

On Hwy 221/321 North: Take Hwy221/321 North to the Hwy 105 Extension. Turn Right at light and take the Hwy105 Extension to Hwy 421/King St. Turn Right at the light at Hwy 421/King St. Continue on Hwy 421 South for about three (3) miles. Turn Left on Brookshire Rd. Continue on Brookshire Rd. and the Field will be on your right. Bus parking is between the two fields.

On Hwy 105: Take Hwy 105 North through town and to the Hwy 105 Extension at the intersection of Hwy 321 and Hwy 105. Take the 105 extension to Hwy 321/King St. Take a right at the light. Continue on Hwy 421 for three (3) miles. Take a left on Brookshire Rd. Continue on Brookshire Road and field will be on your right. Bus parking is between the two fields.

Varsity Gym: (Wrestling and Locker Room Facilities) On Hwy 421 North from Winston Salem: Take Hwy421 North to Hardin St. Turn Left at the light on Hardin St, Dan’l Boone Inn should be on you right. Take Hardin St. to Rivers St., which is the second light. Turn Right on Rivers St and proceed towards the second light located at Stadium Dr. Varsity Gym is located just prior to the Rivers St and Stadium Dr. intersection on the Right. Park your Bus or Van on the side of the road. Walk down to Varsity Gym.

On Hwy 221/321 North: Take Hwy 221/321 North to Rivers St. Take Left at the light at Rivers St. Stay on Rivers St until Stadium Dr. intersection, which is the second light you will come to. Varsity Gym will be on the right just prior to that intersection. Park Bus or Van on the side of the road and walk into Varsity Gym.

On Hwy 321 South: Take Hwy 321 South to S Waters St. Take a right at the S Water St light. Then take a Left on Rivers St. Varsity Gym will be on your left just past the Rivers St. and Stadium Dr. intersection, which will be the second light you go through on Rivers St. Park your Bus or Van on the side of the road and walk into Varsity Gym.

DIRECTIONS TO FACILITIES

Baseball Field: (Baseball Offices and Locker Room Facilities) On Hwy 421 North from Winston Salem: Take Hwy 421 North to Hardin St. Turn Left at the light on Hardin St, Dan’l Boone Inn should be on you right. Take Hardin St to Rivers St., which is the second light. Turn Right on Rivers St and proceed through 3 traffic lights until reaching 4th light at Bodenheimer Drive/Depot St. Turn left and follow Bodenheimer Dr. all the way up the hill (passing the Rec. Center, Chancellor’s Residence, and Appalachian Heights Apts). Follow drive around Broyhill Inn/Conference Center to back of building. Field is located in the rear of Broyhill Parking Lot B.

On Hwy 221/321 North: Take Hwy 221/321 North to Rivers St. Take Left at the light at Rivers St. Stay on Rivers St (passing 3 stoplights) until reaching Bodenheimer Dr./Depot St. Turn left and follow Bodenheimer Dr. all the way up the hill (passing the Rec. Center, Chancellor’s Residence, and Appalachian Heights Apts). Follow drive around Broyhill Inn/Conference Center to back of building. Field is located in the rear of Broyhill Parking Lot B.

On Hwy 321 South: Take Hwy 321 South to S Depot St. (entering downtown Boone) Make a right at S. Depot St. Follow Depot St. until the intersection of Depot/Rivers St. Go straight through the stoplight (Rec. Center should be in front of you) and follow Depot St./ Bodenheimer Dr. all the way up the hill (passing the Rec. Center, Chancellor’s Residence, and Appalachian Heights Apts). Follow drive around Broyhill Inn/Conference Center to back of building. Field is located in the rear of Broyhill Parking Lot B.

Softball Field: On Hwy 421 North from Winston Salem: Take Hwy421 North to Hardin St. Turn Left at the light on Hardin St. Take Hardin St. to Rivers St. Turn Right on Rivers St and proceed to Stadium Dr. Take a left on Stadium Dr. Proceed towards the stadium and take a right on Jack Branch Dr. Follow Jack Branch Dr. until you reach the Softball Field.

On Hwy 221/321 North: Take Hwy 221/321 North to Rivers St. Take Left at the light at Rivers St. Stay on Rivers St until Stadium Dr. intersection, which is the second light you will come to. Take a left on Stadium Dr. Proceed towards the stadium and take a right on Jack Branch Dr. Follow Jack Branch Dr. until you reach the Softball Field.

On Hwy 321 South: Take Hwy 321 South to S Waters St. Take a right at the S Water St light. Then take a Left on Rivers St. Follow Rivers St. Take a left on Stadium Dr. Proceed towards the stadium and take a right on Jack Branch Dr. Follow Jack Branch Dr. until you reach the Softball Field.

TICKET INFORMATION

Admission is charged at the following sports: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Football. All of the other sporting events are free and open to the public.

Football: Individual game tickets may be purchased based upon availability on game days at the ticket plaza at Kidd Brewer Stadium. If you have any ticket related questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Steve White, Ticket Manager, at (828) 262-2079.

Gates open on Saturday two (2) hours before kickoff. The Visiting Team Will Call booth is located on the East Side of Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Home Team Will Call Booth is located on the West Side Entrance of Kidd Brewer Stadium. Photo identification and signature are required to pick up tickets.

Men’s Basketball Single Game Tickets General Admission: $10 Youth (3-12): $5

Women’s Basketball Single Game Tickets General Admission: $5 Youth (3-12): $3

Men’s and Women’s Basketball Player guest lists should be turned in upon arrival in Boone at the Holmes Center or may be faxed prior to arrival. The fax number for the Ticket Office is (828) 262-8889. Photo identification is required to pick up tickets at the player guest gate. The player will call window is located at the SW entrance of the Holmes Convocation Center.

Individual game tickets may be purchased at the Holmes Center beginning one hour prior to the scheduled game time. Tickets may also be purchased in advance at www.goASU.com, at the Ticket Office located at the Holmes Center, or by phone at (828) 262-2079.
