DESCRIPTION

Recent events in the news, from patients rights to NSA surveillance practices to pandemics, have echoed moral and social issues raised in popular culture science fiction. As technological progress makes the Dystopian worlds imagined by writers and filmmakers more plausible, we need to develop the legal, social, and technological frameworks to keep those forces in check. In this interactive dual presentation, we will pull the arm of a digital slot machine to randomly present 1) a critical concept, 2) a technology or movement currently in existence, and 3) a disruptive innovative factor. We’ll then crowd-source potential solutions embodying all three of these variables and lead an exploratory discussion on the most popular solutions.
