Sonnet 8: Music to hear, why hear'st thou music sadly? by William

ShakespeareMusic to hear, why hear'st thou music

sadly?Sweets with sweets war not, joy delights in

joy.Why lov'st thou that which thou receiv'st

not gladly,Or else receiv'st with pleasure thine

annoy? If the true concord of well-tunèd sounds,By unions married, do offend thine ear,They do but sweetly chide thee, who

confoundsIn singleness the parts that thou shouldst

bear.Mark how one string, sweet husband to

another,Strikes each in each by mutual ordering,

Resembling sire and child and happy mother,

Who, all in one, one pleasing note do sing;Whose speechless song being many,

seeming one,Sings this to thee: "Thou single wilt prove

none."

OffensiveLet me tell you something about Janis Ian. We were best friends in middle school. (makes a face) I know right, it's soooo embarrassing. I don’t even…whatever. So then in eighth grade I started going out with my first boyfriend Kyle, who was totally gorgeous but then he moved to Indiana--and Janis was like, weirdly jealous of him. Like if I would blow her off to hang out with Kyle, she'd be like "Why didn't you call me back?!" and I'd be like, "Uh, why are you so obsessed with me?" So then for my birthday party, which was an all girls pool party, I was like, "Janyce, I can't invite you because I think you're a lesbian" I mean, I couldn't have a lesbian at my party! There were going to be girls there in their bathing suits! I mean right, she was a lesbian! So then her mom called my mom and started yelling at her and it was so retarded and then she dropped out of school 'cause no one would talk to her and she came back in the fall for high school and her hair was all cut off and she was totally weird and now I guess she's on crack.

PassionateDefinition: Having, compelled by, or ruled by intense emotion or strong feeling; fervid:

Football has been part of my life since I was the age of five. It has always been the one sport, the one hobby I enjoyed most and prided myself in. I played on every level; the inception being the flag level, followed by ponies, super pee-wees, pee-wees, midgets, and finally high school level football. The former eight years of my football career were undoubtedly the best in no small part to the great coaches and teammates I had. I would just like to mention a few of those coaches that have helped me become who I am today. Mr. Gus VanDenBerg; a wonderful coach and it’s a shame his son Clay, a good friend of mine, didn’t continue to play as a senior. Mr. Lehman Mann; he has always been a great mentor and was a fantastic coach. Through all the tough times, he told me to tough it out and stick with it and good things will happen, for that I thank him because his inspiring words and caring thoughts helped me make better decisions than I would have without them. And finally, Mr. William Conlin; the best coach I have ever had the pleasure to play for, even if it was only for one season. His coaching taught me many things about football but even more about myself. There really is too much I could say about such a great person. But if I were to sum it up… Whenever I think of that season, all that comes to mind is pure happiness; the practices, the games, anything and everything about that one year of football will always be the fondest memories of football in my life.

PoliticalDefinition: Of or relating to government, a government, or the conduct of government

Why else would he define middle-class as someone making under $5 million a year? How else could he propose hundreds of billions in tax breaks for big corporations and oil companies, but not one penny of tax relief to more than 100 million Americans?

OBAMA: How else could he offer a health care plan that would actually tax people's benefits, or an education plan that would do nothing to help families pay for college, or a plan that would privatize Social Security and gamble your retirement?

(AUDIENCE BOOS)

It's not because John McCain doesn't care; it's because John McCain doesn't get it.

(APPLAUSE)

For over two decades -- for over two decades, he's subscribed to that old, discredited Republican philosophy: Give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else.

In Washington, they call this the "Ownership Society," but what it really means is that you're on your own. Out of work? Tough luck, you're on your own. No health care? The market will fix it. You're on your own. Born into poverty? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, even if you don't have boots. You are on your own.

(APPLAUSE)

Well, it's time for them to own their failure. It's time for us to change America. And that's why I'm running for president of the United States.

Romantic ROMEO: But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,Who is already sick and pale with griefThat thou a maid art far more fair than she.Be not her maid, since she is envious. Her vestal livery is but sick and green,And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off.It is my lady; O, it is my love!O that she knew she were! She speaks, yet she says nothing. What of that? Her eye discourses; I will answer it.I am too bold; 'tis not to me she speaks. Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,Having some business, do entreat her eyesTo twinkle in their spheres till they return. What if her eyes were there, they in her head? The brightness of her cheek would shame those starsAs daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heavenWould through the airy region stream so brightThat birds would sing and think it were not night.See how she leans her cheek upon her hand!O that I were a glove upon that hand,That I might touch that cheek!

The American singer Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, at age 50, of propofol intoxication after suffering a respiratory arrest at his home on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills neighborhood in Los Angeles. His personal physician, Conrad Murray, said he had found Jackson in his room, not breathing, but with a faint pulse, and that he administered CPR on his bed to no avail. After a call was placed to 9-1-1 at 12:20 pm, Jackson was treated by paramedics at the scene, and was later pronounced dead at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

On August 28, 2009, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled the death a homicide.

Sincere

It is important to me that everybody who has been hurt know that the sorrow I feel is genuine: first and most important, my family; also my friends, my staff, my Cabinet, Monica Lewinsky and her family, and the American people. I have asked all for their forgiveness.

But I believe that to be forgiven, more than sorrow is required - at least two more things. First, genuine repentance - a determination to change and to repair breaches of my own making. I have repented. Second, what my bible calls a ''broken spirit''; an understanding that I must have God's help to be the person that I want to be; a willingness to give the very forgiveness I seek; a renunciation of the pride and the anger which cloud judgment, lead people to excuse and compare and to blame and complain.

Definition: Saying what they genuinely feel or believe; not dishonest or hypocritical.

Unifying

Definition: to make or become a single unit; unite:

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil -- the very worst of human nature -- and we responded with the best of America. With the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.
