  • The founder of Confucianism was a man named, well Confucius.
  • He was around from 551 to 479 B.C.E

  • Time period was from about 6 thcentury to 5 thcentury B.C.E

  • No, there was no Holy Book. At least not one book. However, several books which were composed of the

  • Therefore Confucianism is neither Polytheistic nor Monotheistic

  • TheConfucian Canonachieved its present form in the Sung Dynasty under the direction of Chu Hsi (1130-1200).

  • Mencius: human intention is inherently good, and that all men are born good, although they may become wicked.
  • Xunzi (Hsun-tzu): people are born inherently with evil natures and desires, and require cultivation through ritual.
  • Despite the development of different outlooks on the initial good will of man, all views eventually recognize the importance of human education and cultivation.
