AP-2000 Problem solving - Force ReloadEntering Force Reload mode

• Force Reload is an emergency procedure to re-load the AP-2000 with new image file, when regular download has failed

• In Forced Reload mode the AP-2000 will

– delete the image

– delete the config.sys file

• To enter Forced reload mode:

– Press Reset

AP Scan ToolInitial settings

• Using the web-browser requires knowledge of the IP address of the AP

• The scan tool will show locally discovered AP-2000 systems showing:– IP address– MAC address– AP name– Uptime– System description

(incl. The version level of the image)

A shortcut to the Scan Tool utility will be created when you install the AP-2000 software package from our web site:

www.orinocowireless.com

AP Scan ToolSetting Initial Configuration

The SCANTOOL utility can be used to perform the initial configuration after force reload is done. Use this tool to configure:

– Device Name– IP Address– Subnet Mask– Correct TFTP IP Address– Correct TFTP File Name,

which is CASE SENSITIVE

– Static or Dynamic IP Address. (use static)

– IN F.R. State leave password blank. If image loaded, then “public” required.

– Unit will reboot and TFTP download will commence after you press OK.

If Scantool does not pick up device:

• Check Ethernet cable connection. Disable personal firewalls. Use a crossover cable if possible.

• Refresh Scantool display.

• Set NIC to 10MB/half duplex

• Configure a serial cable, (not included). From DB-9 to PS2 adapter, use a straight cable, (serial mouse extender). Settings 9600-N-8-1.

• Use any suitable terminal program, such as Terra Term Pro, or Hyperterminal

• Configure the terminal to send a CR after LF on transmit.

• The serial cable is the only way to see POST dialogue, and is required for any advanced troubleshooting on the AP-2000.

• IP TELNET is NOT supported if the unit is in FR state.

Problem solving - Force ReloadSetting initial parameters after Force Reload

• In Forced Reload mode the CLI command interface communicates with the the bootloader

• Bootloader is stripped version of VxWorks kernel

• Bootloader prompt is:

[Device name]>

• Bootloader accepts limited set of CLI commands:

* show * reboot

* help * set

• The following parameters can be modified using the set command:

* sysname * ipaddrtype

* ipaddr * ipsubmask

* ipgw * tftpipaddr

* tftpfilename

set sysname <my device’s name> (optional but recommended)

set ipsubmask 255.xxx.xxx.xxx (subnet mask)

set ipgw xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (optional now but recommended)

set ipaddrtype static (recommended unless must use assigned address)

set tftpipaddr yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy (computer running TFTP server)

Problem solving - Force ReloadReloading the image

• To initiate the download of the image the following CLI commands need to be executed:

– set ipaddr (to IP address in same subnet of the the tftp server, when on the same LAN)

– set ipsubmask– set ipaddrtype (to STATIC)– set tftpipaddr (to the IP address of

the tftp server)– set tftpfilename (to the filename of

the image as stored on the tftp server)• Executing a reboot command (Ctrl X) will

initiate the tftp transfer (can be monitored on the terminal emulation by dots)

• At successful completion of the transfer, the regular CLI prompt is shown (all CLI commands can be entered
