Tour of “Zinzinnati”- In the 19th century, Cincinnati became one of the three major centers of German heritage along with St. Louis and Milwaukee, forming what became known as the German Triangle. Throughout the Greater Cincinnati area there are numerous examples of the impact of German immigration and settlement. See Cincinnati's German heritage as you've never seen it before! See what were once almost exclusively German neighborhoods, iconic buildings and landmarks, and learn about the Cincinnati businesses that were brought here and built by German peoples. A tour of Old St Mary’s Church, in the Over the Rhine area. Built in 1850 by German Catholics, who hand-fired the bricks in their kitchen ovens, this is the oldest surviving house of worship in Cincinnati. Taste Testing guided tour at historic Findlay Market, Ohio's oldest continuously operated public market and one of Cincinnati's most cherished institutions. The Market is located just blocks from downtown in Over-the-Rhine, a dense historic neighborhood rich in 19th century architecture. Open Tuesday through Sunday, Findlay Market is home year-around to merchants selling meat, fish, poultry, produce, flowers, cheese, deli, and ethnic foods. A stop will be made at German Heritage Museum, which serves as the focal point in presenting and displaying German-American culture. This museum is the first of its kind in the region, and a testament to the many contributions German immigrants and their descendants have made toward the building of the Ohio Valley and America. Hofbrauhaus Newport. Guests will enjoy the German ambiance patterned after the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich Germany. See why it fits in so well with the atmosphere of the Cincinna ti area’s German heritage. Guests will be entertained by a polka band and will enjoy a choice menu at time of service. Be sure to learn the “chicken dance” one of the most popular group participatory dances in Germany!! Beer tasting included. Rhinegeist, translates to "Ghost of the Rhine" and refers to their place in the historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District in Cincinnati. Built within the skeleton of the old Moerlein bottling plant (1895), they brew 20bbl batches of beer that sing with flavor. Guests will enjoy sampling the beer as well as hearing the stories. Mecklenberg Gardens, established in 1865, is a restaurant with an outdoor “Bier Garten and grape vine trellis.It has come to symbolize “Zinzinnati’s” German heritage. In its early years, it was a prominent gathering place for German immigrants and German singing societies, and provided a place for relaxation and socializing. But it also was a training ground for German immigrants, acquainting them with the American political process, through mock elections. Complete German Buffet.

Willkommen Y’All!! You don’t have to be German to enjoy this tour! Tour of “Zinzinnati”- In the 19th century, Cincinnati became one of the three major centers of German heritage along with St.

See Cincinnati's German heritage as you've never seen it before! See what were once

learn about Cincinnati’s hidden history. Enjoy a stroll through Over-the-Rhine, home to

America’s largest set of historical landmarks. Visit buildings in the Gateway District that

were home to over 130 saloons, bars and beer gardens, and theaters that hosted the iconic entertainers Charlie Chaplin and Wild Bill

Hickok. Then, descend below the city streets to a hidden vault and explore newly discovered

tunnels vital to Cincinnati’s brewery heritage.

This tour requires walking on uneven surfaces with dust and grime. You will be underneath the city of Cincinnati Ohio 70 feet and guests must be able to

walk at least one and ½ miles and do stairs.

ADDITIONAL ADD-ON’s – SPECIAL GERMAN EVENTS:

Germania Society Maifest is the traditional German celebration of spring. Each year the Germania Society raises a stein to the blooming flowers and warming weather with our own Maifest celebration — the most authentic in Cincinnati. The festival features traditional German food, including whole roasted hogs, ruebens, wursts, and delicious German pastries and a variety of German biers, wein and schnapps, including homemade Maiwein. There’s live music (both German and Ameri-can), dancing, and the crowning of the Mai Queen.

Games of skill and chance for the big kids, including the Strong Man Pull and Blackjack (on Saturday and Sunday only. Imported German merchandise and gifts, as well as local craft products will be for sale. Make sure you visit the spring flower market — just in time for planting! 2nd full weekend of May every year.

Schwabenfest authentic German Festival – 2nd full weekend of June, every year. Enjoy great music, fantastic food, and wonderful entertainment and, of course, performances by the Donauschwaben Youth Group and Schuhplattlers. Test your strength in the stein holding contest.

Germania Society Oktoberfest is the most authentic Oktoberfest in the Cincinnati region, with traditional German food & entertainment: Oktoberfest chickens, flame-roasted pork, wursts, German pastries, German biers, wein and schnapps, live music, rides and games of chance for the young at heart! Friday-Sunday last week-end in August every year.

Oktoberfest at MainStrasse Village is a mixture of food, arts/craft booths, refreshments, children's activities, entertainment and more, located along the tree lined Promenade and in Goebel Park. While you're at the

festival, you can also enjoy this historic neighborhood of year round shops, restaurants and taverns. 2nd full weekend of September every year.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, the LARGEST Oktoberfest celebration in the country, is held along Fifth Street in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio and showcases the rich German heritage of Southwest Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be America's largest Oktober-fest with more than 500,000 people attending each year. 3rd full weekend of September every year.
