Since the establishment of the TAMA brand in 1974, “The Strongest Name in Drums” has been used to identify and describe our brand. TAMA’s new slogan for our Marching Drum development project is not only for those who play marching drums, but to help encourage ourselves to succeed in developing instruments that are perfect for all to use. This new slogan also declares that we are the challenger in the field of Marching Drums.

Through research and examination our main concept became clear – TAMA Marching Percussion should be perfect not just for one drummer, but for all drummers of different sizes, body types, and variations. It is a great honor that we have been able to collaborate with various Marching Drum groups in this process. We are especially honored to have Mr. Tom Float, a master of Marching Drums, as our special advisor on this project.

After a long period of planning and experimentation, TAMA Marching Percussion is finally complete. High durability, various unique features for function and comfort, beautiful finishes, chrome hardware, bubinga/birch shells, and revolutionary improvements allow total customized playability for everyone. Each of these innovations comes straight from TAMA’s passion to offer you an incredible sound that has been cultivated through skill and years of experience crafting drums.

By using bubinga wood for the inner layer of traditional birch shells, these hybrid shells produce a completely new sound with a great balance of tonal character of bubinga and birch.

Our craftsmen are obsessed with carrying on the TAMA tradition. By making a perfectly round shell, our designers allow the wood to achieve maximum resonance and full tonal range. TAMA shells respond from the softest touch to the hardest hit.

TAMA has always endeavored to create instruments people seek and demand. TAMA’s long history and experience in manufacturing drums has led to the successful development of TAMA Marching Snare Drums. This revolutionary drum has its own identity with unique features offered on no other drum in the market. By applying decades of drum-building mastery, TAMA’s engineers have produced a highly circular shell that maintains its shape and tone quality even in severe summer conditions. Our Maple produces rich resonance with sensitive response. The B/B shell, a hybrid shell of Bubinga and Birch wood, provides a sharp, aggressive attack with rich resonance in the mid to low range. Our newly introduced and very unique snare drum functions, such as the “Buzz Killer Mutes” and the “Detachable Gut Frame” system, give the player maximum control of sound options with quick and easy user friendly adjustments. Most current snare drums have a low position strainer that makes it difficult for the player to reach. Adjusting the gut height or turning the guts off for a tenor sound is impossible while carrying the drum. The guts can be accidentally raised to a position too high on both ends causing a bending of the guts and incorrect head contact. TAMA Marching Snare Drums strainer has the lever located near the top of the drum for easy reach while using a carrier. The lever is very stable and operates smoothly while switching from snare to tenor. The High Position Strainer also has built-in safeguards to prevent over adjusting the vertical positioning of the guts.

The Gut Frame of TAMA Marching Snare Drums can be removed or replaced in literally two seconds. You can change the bottom head without changing the tension or mute position of the guts. The two arms of the frame support all of the gut tension and prevent unwanted influences on the strainer and shell sound.

TAMA “Buzz Killer Mutes” are used to adjust the length of buzz by the guts. This eliminates the need for any type of tape on the guts and permits correct functioning of the strainer. Mutes can be easily positioned for your desired sound and then locked down. Subtle differences in muting can be obtained by the adjustment knobs. Mutes stay in place even when the guts are removed from the drum. You can easily remove or add mutes as needed. “Buzz Killer Mutes” allow perfect flexibility for indoor or outdoor tuning.

The TAMA original gut frame system has individually adjustable guts. You can also adjust the tension of all guts at once with the tension adjustment knob. Guts can be individually removed or replaced to create your own custom sound.

TAMA Marching Tenor Drums feature 3 detachable legs to prevent damage to the shells if placed on the ground. Tenor drums will sit flat on the ground or table top for rehearsals. The legs do not interfere with marching and are easily removed for performances.

There are many sizes and shapes of tenor drummers. TAMA Marching Tenor Drums have the capability of changing angles and distances from the body to create the most comfortable position for the player. Usually marching bass drums are attached to the carrier by hooking onto eye bolts. This system does not hold the drum firmly and the bass drum wobbles and makes noise. This harms the player’s performance. TAMA Marching Bass Drums eliminate the space between the bass drum and carrier by applying the joint locking system similar to the snare and tenor drums. TAMA Marching Bass Drums are designed for stability in the most demanding of performances.

TAMA Claw Hooks have been created only for TAMA Maching Bass Drums. TAMA Claw Hooks are designed with superior strength for high-pitch tuning.

TAMA Marching Bass Drums feature light weight aluminum die-cast lugs and 6 mm diameter tension bolts designed for strength and durability for high-pitch tuning.

All Safety Lock Marching Stands feature various unique features, such as "Center of Gravity Positioning," "Adjustable 2 Front Legs," "Multi Lock Clamps," and "Safety Lock Mounts." These are all designed to provide players greater versatility, stability, and safety.

All Safety Lock Marching Stands feature a Safety Lock Mounting System. Drums can be securely locked in place by activating the black locking tabs.

Safety Lock Marching Stands allow all TAMA Drums to be positioned in the most stable position, directly over the center of the stand. Drums can be faced in any direction. Confidence in drum stability can be achieved in all 360 degree positioning choices.

Two legs of each Safety Lock Marching Stand can be adjusted individually to allow stable drum set up even on uneven surfaces. In stadium locations, the two legs positioned in the higher position will provide increased stability.

Multi Lock Clamps are designed to lock the the stand to a stadium seat. By attaching the Multi Lock Clamp to the stand and positioning the L-rod under the seat, the stand will be firmly and safely locked to the seat and cannot fall over.

The Silver Armor Carrier is the Perfect Fit Carrier for the diversity of unique players. TAMA’s original features and functions will satisfy every player.

This enables the player to position the drums at the correct height for their body type by adjusting the bolts on the front of the plate with a tuning key.

This enables the player to adjust the angle of the shoulder pipe. Gearless adjustment allows the shoulder pads to fit the player’s body and diminish the stress around the shoulders.

The angle of the backrest can be adjusted to disperse the pressure to a wider contact area on the body. The backrest can move in or out to accommodate different size players. The backrest adjustment is completely revolutionary and allows the carrier to mold itself to the player while providing excellent support.

The movable pad can rotate around the tube pipe. This enables the pad to fit the player’s shoulder type for maximum comfort.

The de t achab l e be l l y pad incorporates a wide contact area to disperse the pressure around the belly.

The d rum l i f t bumper prevents the drums from being damaged by hitting the carrier when tilting up. No more scratches or chipped hoops.

Support Bars for the bass drums can be set up two ways according to the drum size. This will allow for correct positioning of each drum. The larger bass drums can be set up lower as shown in the picture on the left.

All Silver Armor Carriers feature a Safety Lock Mounting System which can safely lock any drum in place by activating the black locking tabs. The bass carrier, combined with the Noiseless Carrier Attachment, will eliminate any wobble or rattle. Exclusive to TAMA, this feature allows for complete control of motion and enhanced performance capabilities.

Large bore and bell give the marching French Horn excellent expression, blend and projection on the field. The unique mouthpipe of the model KBFH is bent at an angle to allow the player to maintain a classic downstream embouchure even during marching season. A traditional large bore and bell flare gives the Marching Euphonium a strong and elegant sound with outstanding projection for the field. The horn is well-balanced, and adds depth to the lower voices.

The Marching Baritone is one of the top selling horns for its open feel, agility, projection, and balance. Outstanding intonation is achieved with the tune-any-note feature.

TubasWith rich sound and great projection, all our tubas come with our ergonomic valve system. Available in all three sizes, (3/4, 4/4 & 5/4) the Tama By Kanstul Convertible Tubas provide true symphonic bass sound in BOTH concert and field applications! Only the Tama by Kanstul Tuba inverts the valve section of the instrument, which makes the hand position equally comfortable in both concert and marching configurations. BBb 5/4 tuba is also offered in a 4-valve configuration to allow for even greater intonation, as well as expanding the range of the instrument.

Th e T 6 D a n o r ch e s t r a l Fr e n ch H o r n mouthpiece that is a perfect match for the KFFH or KBFH Marching French Horns. The T6D has a large cup size for players with mature embouchures. This offers a perfect coupling to our Mellophone timbre on the

marching field.

For band directors who want the Mellophone sound quality on the marching field, but also want their French Horn players to keep their embouchure in check during the field season, Tama offers the T6DH. This is our French Horn T6D cup, on the TM6 shank. No longer will band directors find the need for mouthpiece adapters, which alter the pitch and response of

the instrument.

Our Marching Baritone comes with our T65A, which is similar to the 6½ A Trombone Mouthpiece. The “G” throat and the #420 back bore give this mouthpiece a round mellow tone

with great carrying power at all volume levels.

The TC3 is based on the Rose Solo Mouthpiece with a few minor alterations. The medium shallow cup of this mouthpiece allows for greater flexibility and technical facility. This mouthpiece works on both the field and in the concert hall, which also is the goal of our

Convertible Tubas.

The TN4 is perfectly matched to our 5/4 Marching Tuba. Modeled after the mouthpiece used by the late, great Tommy Johnson, the TN4 combines power at full volume levels and ease of technical facility. Again this mouthpiece is designed to be used in the concert hall and on the field.

The Tama by Kanstul T3C is a Mount Vernon Bach 3C cup, (which is the older larger cup diameter and depth to the standard 3C) with

the #24 orchestral back bore.

The TM6 is very similar to the standard Mello 6 mouthpiece with one exception. The TM6 comes with the same #24 orchestral back bore This is an excellent design for well-developed players who strive for great volume production and quick response.

The T11C is an 11C mouthpiece (which is the choice of professional commercial trombonists on the West Coast) with one alteration. The “G” back bore is used to maximize airflow. Again, this is a professional level mouthpiece.

The T4G is a Symphonic Tenor Trombone Mouthpiece that works seamlessly with our Marching Euphonium. The combination of two great mouthpieces, the T4G combines aspects of the 5G and 4G Symphonic Tenor Trombone mouthpieces into one, which best suits our Marching Euphonium.
