An Eye for
the Lenses!
The tenure started with a unique
workshop which sought to develop
the impressionistic and aesthetic
trends of students. The audience
had an ample amount of
knowledge to take away from the
renowned graphic designer, the
SAARC Awardee, Shri Sandesh
Bhandare. With a backstory of
renowned portraits, the event
weaved together myriad thoughts
into the minds of the youth.

Towards
the Moon
In a rendezvous with students, Mr. Suhas
Naiksatam from Nehru Planetarium
mesmerized the audience with interesting
interrogations about the moon and outer
space which generated a lot of curiosity.
His profound knowledge about the earth’snatural satellite served to ignite the young
minds with new technological ideas. He
also briefed the students about the recent
national event of Chandrayaan II - The
lunar exploration mission developed
entirely by ISRO.

Art and science will hold it’svalue, only when we can
understand the importance
and magnanimity of our
Mother Earth, this was put in
a spotlight by Padmashree Dr.
Sharad Kale who addressed

issues and their adverse
effects. His anecdotes and
poetries touched everyone's
heart while his motto got
engraved in the minds of the

In sync with the latest
technology, the seminar was a
blend of Advanced Analytics, Big
Data, Robotics, etc. across the
business value chain. The guest
for the event was Dr. Dinanath

Insight at Tata Consultancy
Services. He started the event
with the notion - Be curious and
not Judgmental.

V-Emperors
Sports encompasses a whole range of activities
and without question, constitutes the soul of
our culture. The vigor and rigor of sports in
VIT is expressed along the coordinates of the
mega event, the V-Emperors Tournament
2019-20 which was conducted in two slots, Leg
1 in September 2019 which included Dodge
ball, Volleyball, Chess, Carom and Rink
Football and Leg 2 in March 2020 which had
Throw Ball, Long Football, Table Tennis and
Cricket. Every contestant strived fiercely to be
known as the emperors of Sports Tournament.

Ninety
As a tribute to ‘The Nightingale of
India’, VIT commemorated the 90th
birth anniversary of Smt. Lata
Mangeshkar by this nostalgic event
which was a rendition of songs and
poetry by Mr. Arun Mhatre and Ms.
Anuja Vartak. The students of VIT
shared great enthusiasm along with
the performers and the chief guests.
The event gave a very joyous insight
to Smt. Lata Mangeshkar's life with a
melodious reverie of songs sung in
tranquility.

Freshers’ Week themes are known
for being eclectic. FILM FIESTA to
aced ‘Runaway to Broadway’theme of 2018 in quite a similar
fashion to how films and movies
succeeded the theatrical plays.
The performers in the dance and
fashion show depicted the popular
Bollywood style dance and
remarkable character roles like
‘The Joker’ or ‘Jack Dawson’ from
‘The Titanic’.

Garba Night
The Dandiya and the Raas Garba of
Gujarat; enthralled the students of VIT
with a musical gala where students
showcased a galore of dances with the
music which starts slow but speeds up as
time goes on, so things get fun and crazy
at the end.

Sherlock
BakshiFreshers' week commenced with an
event based on Sherlock Holmes, and
Byomkesh Bakshi, two of the finest
detectives in literature. The event
entitled rightfully as SHERLOCK
BAKSHI for the first-year students to
impersonate the renowned detectives
and to solve the mystery which tested
their problem-solving as well as
analytical skills.

Kohi-noor
Mil Gaya
There is a treasure in every path,
all one needs to do is look for it.
Based on the idea of a scavenger
hunt, this event made the
students put on their thinking
caps. Participants were to solve
the given clues and reach the
destination, to look for the
‘Kohinoor’ diamond. Cognitive
skills of the participants were
surely rejuvenated after such an
exercise.

Peaky Blinders
This event was organized to ensure an
all-round development of students,
including the psychomotor and cognitive
skills. The participants had to guess the
name of the movie, and then help their
blindfolded partner to type it without
any errors.

Kabhi Code, Kabhi Decode
Technical simulation is impossible
without a code. This event
challenged the participants, who
were given an ASCII code, from
which they had to deduce the
movie's name.

Action!
Being so close to Bollywood,
how can one forget the
phrase ‘Lights, Camera,
Action!’. A fun event made
up of three rounds- Dumb
Charades, Antakshri, and
Guess the movie name,
which made students walk
down the memory lane of
Bollywood movies with their
histrionics and theatrics.

Workshop
To be self-reliant and independent is
very important. An event of great
significance to the students as they
learned the art of Self Defense from
Shri. Vijay Shinde. The trainers
taught the students' self-defense
techniques and encouraged them to
develop confidence in themselves and
to be prepared for unwarranted times.

A time-honored ceremony to bestow responsibilities on the deserving young
talents to lead the Student Council with their commitments, confidence, and
competence indicating the beginning of a new Council amidst all the present
members of the Council, Faculty, and Parents. This ceremony included
discussions on innovation of new ideas, the pinning of badges to the
Secretaries followed by a talk on how to handle the upcoming challenges that
the Council members might face in their tenure.

On the account of road
safety, Student Council
along with National Service
Scheme (NSS) team of
Vidyalankar organized
Mahawalkathon on 30th
November 2019. Every
participant had a relevant
poster of road safety
upholding throughout the
walk along with their
slogans.

Debates
This colossal event turned out
to be a melting pot for great
conversations of like and unlike
minds to brew. The ever so
refreshing perspectives on a
single issue stole the show.
From capitalism to defensive
forces, curveballs were thrown
at students to brainstorm. Prof.
Ashish Shekhar, an inhouse
faculty, was an insightful
judge for the event. The
winners were given award for
their much-deserved caliber
and resources.

A sporting event to test the
strength and resilience of the
participants. It had various rounds
of crunches, push-ups, and carry
over sit-ups that enthusiastically
enthralled the judge and the
audience. The judge for the event
was Mr. India and bodybuilder
Swapnil Kadam.

title. The event had vibrant and
colorful dances by the
volunteers all dressed in
exquisite traditional Indian

that spoke only splendor.

The aesthetics of the event was a thing to revere, as
the performances of highly talented gymnasts who
have represented INDIA on an international level

performers for the evening

Singh and Prakhar Dua,
prominent members of the
poetry community, actors, and
storytellers, were welcomed
with thorough and resounding
applause. The headliner for the
event was the well-known poet,
Helly Shah who concluded the
event with her famous piece
‘Dosti Ka Break-Up’.

A writer's meet, where budding and
aspiring writers of our college gained tips,
inspiration, and encouragement through a
discussion session. Panelists included
young and talented authors, of some best
selling novels like Mitali Meelan, Arpit
Vageria, and Suha Riyaz Khopatkar, who
resonated with and appealed to the
audience and shared stories about their
journey to success. Later, the audience
also got the opportunity to inquire and
interact with UK based author Faiqa
Mansab, through a video call session.

WEEK
The entire department week turned out to be colossal with everyone's interest
and enthusiasm at its peak, as teachers and students from all the
departments participated in it, be it the 'Antakshari' round amongst the
faculty members from different departments, or the dance competition among
students, or the Quizly Bear event.

Digital InfluencersThe chronicles of famous YouTube personalities such as Mythpat,
Rawknee, Saurav Sinha, and MSK Vlogs on virtual media unraveled
the struggle & endeavor behind their triumph today as influencers.
The speakers had an interactive session with the audience and
narrated their experiences and sedulousness. Each one of them
shared their difficulties which they had to face to reach the peak of
success. The event ended with a fan meet and greet.

event. Mr. Dev Dodia, a well-
known mobile photographer,
was the judge for this event.
Amey Gawde was the winner
of this competition, while
Yogesh Meka secured the
runner-up position.

The diverse traditions and cultures in India were celebrated on this day,
with a wide array of various cuisine, cultural performances, and a
Traditional dress contest, which was judged by well known Marathi
actresses Radhika Barve and Seema Deshmukh. This event was a vivid
experience for students as well as faculty.

Abhivyakti
Giving voice to the lost characters of our rich theatrical tradition, the Mono-
acts being of diverse nature and mixed genres touched the deepest subjects of
society and made us all reminisce about the core of human society. Girls’education, infant homicide, domestic abuse, a teacher’s day at school, peer
pressure, and freedom, all these social issues were depicted on stage through
mesmerizing acts.

Room, where a group of students
discover clues, solve puzzles and
accomplish the given tasks within 10

A street play event with outdoor
theatrical performances and
presentations enacted by various
participating teams committed to
bring about some change in the
society. The judge for the event was
the professional theatre artist Ninad
Limaye.

This event endeavored to inculcate
love towards the language and also
build vocabulary with some fun. A
modified version of the game
Hangaroo, Verduego was segmented
in 3 rounds with every member
tasked to guess the correct word
hidden in phrases of all sorts. The
last round was conducted online on a
website portal called Kahoot.

Dance
Dance is said to be poetry
with arms and legs, so was
this event which was full of
action as several teams of
professional dancers hit the
streets. The judge for this
event was Mr. Vishnu
Pawar, popularly known as
Oggy. The dancers
mesmerized the crowd with
their steps and made it
extremely difficult for Oggy,
who eventually crowned
‘The Deviants’ as the
Champion.

Quick Art was an event that had participants seated on all fours rushing to
apply their creativity and imagination while under a time crunch. With an
assortment of quirky rounds like painting with bubble wrap and cotton,
sketching, and finger painting, the event was an enjoyable and refreshing watch
for all the audience. The judge for the evening was the popular social media
artist, Abhijit Murudkar, who ended with an inspiring talk on balancing
academics and hobbies.

Fair
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same
time.”
With a vibrant and diverse exhibition of paintings, photographs, artistic
installations, and vintage cars, coins, and maps, The Art Fair had
something to appeal to everyone's taste. Also, a variety of live
performances were organized, including performances like Tabla
Jugalbandi, Kathak dances, and a live Calligraphy display. To conclude
the event, there were classical singing performances elegantly depicting
the various cultures of India.

Face Off
Diversity and independence are
important because the best collective
decisions are the product of disagreement
and contest, not consensus and
compromise. Face Off was one such
debate event where the teams debated on
diverse topics such as 'Should satellites
be used for space exploration?' or 'Does
CCTV invade privacy?'. The event was
well appreciated by the audience for the
rhetorical skills.

“But be careful how you speak say break and steak, but bleak and streak.”
The event was a great blend of humor, wits, and verbal skills. Like always, the
country’s No. 1 JAM master Hormuz Ragina did not fail to entertain everyone
present with his atypical JAM topics and amicable hilarity.

A music-filled afternoon that had both the audience and the judge Anup
Pandey, Mid-day Icon of the Year 2019, grooving to the tunes of the
performers. With both solo and duet live music performances of songs of
various genres, in Hindi, Marathi, and English; Redhun led the audience
down a soulful and melodic journey that left everyone yearning for more.

The elegance and gracefulness of
the dancers spread a smile
through the audience. None of
the competitors fell back upon
setting the stage on fire; and
made sure nothing less than the
best is presented. Even the
Teachers put forth a power-
packed performance. The entire
event was a sight to behold.

Khulke Bol
This event was a platform for
presenting various skills, be it poetry
reading, comedy, rapping, or singing.
Storyteller Isha Joshi and the
Rapper, Singer Oswin Vaz, were the
judges for the event. The humorous
stories, passionate poems, energetic
yet fluent rapping, and the
melodious singing engaged everyone
present there.

A workshop on fluid painting, and the
amazing use of colors, that Vinisha
Savla, the founder of ‘Paintology’, and
the instructor for the event who gave a
realistic touch to the art of Fluid
Painting by her two interesting
techniques ‘Swirl’ and ‘Dirty Pour’. The
paintings were a vibrant blend of
beautiful colors. Ms. Vinisha personally
helped and guided everyone’s artwork.

Silent
Disco“Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music” One of the flagship events of
VERVE 2020 was the Silent
Disco. Equipped with wireless
headsets and a neon bracelet
each, students and teachers
alike came dressed for the
occasion. The DJ for the night
was The Lost Stories
Academy, who ensured even
the stiffest of the attendees
couldn't help but shake a leg
and groove to the rhythm and
beats of the songs played,
without creating any of that
unwanted noise.

The short film festival screening was
an yet another event to showcase the
films and also to bring to fore the
nuances of film-making. The videos
were judged based on acting, quality
of shooting, VFX editing. A portrait
photographer, Dr. Rishab Joshi was
the judge for the same. The winner for
the Amateur category was Meenati
with theme ‘Reunite’ and the winner
for mobile category was Nexus Pit
with the theme ‘End of the beginning’.

Corporate Formal Day
A grand ‘Red Carpet’ event, with a theme that involved classy
corporate world fashion and was entitled as ‘The Corporate
Formal Day’ on the 6th of January, 2020. The event had everyone
put on their best business attire and sport that confident,
glamorous aura .

This competition offered the students of
our college a massive platform to portray
their talents, qualities, and wits. The
contestants performed an act based on
their talents, and they also had to go
through a question-answer round which
challenged their wits. At the end of the
evening, the title was awarded to Mr.
Anirban Dutta and Miss Tanishka
Gupta.
Just JamThe performance from the
Apaches was like the cherry
on the top. The entire crowd
was grooving to their beats,
dancing through their notes,
and feeling through their
pitches. The energy was
through the roof, and no one
wanted the night to end.
Underneath the sky, with
blazing lights and synced
rhythms and melodies, it
indeed became a night to
remember.

Inc.
Dance Inc. is a platform for
both dance professionals and
dance lovers to showcase their
talent and love for the art
form. The troupes danced on
mashup of various Bollywood
songs and some originals. The
judges' panel was made up of
Shreyas and Madhuri from
the Y3 dance group based in
Mumbai. The team from
TSEC secured their place as
the winners while the team
from RAIT were the first
runner ups.

PanacheFashion is a popular aesthetic expression that
refers to anything that becomes a range among the
mass. Several teams took part in this event and
showcased their grace, confidence, peculiar outfits,
and props on the runway exhibiting various
themes and succeeding to bring a different twist to
the ordinary style. The winner of the event was
the team from the Tolani college, and the first
runner up were the contenders from SNDT college.
The event was an enchanting experience for the
audience as all the participating teams, left
everyone awestruck by their grace.

The epilogue of the college festival was this grand event,
an event full of body beating band music. All the
competing teams rocked the stage but it was VIT's very
own Apaches who sealed the deal by winning the
competition. Music and rhythm ultimately found their
way into the secret places of the soul forever for people to
cherish and reminisce.

A Friday Pathshaala event to
rewind the clock and take us
all back to the days of cartoons
with Doraemon, Pikachu,
Shinchan, and many more! A
fun-filled activity that put the
participants’ drama, singing,
and memory skills to a test.
This event, aimed at
enhancing the speaking skills
and also build confidence
amongst the students.
Moreover, the students had to
enact scenes from the
cartoons, which was a big
comic relief for all.

PEN IN BLACK
‘Pen in black’ was an online writing
event conducted by the Literary
Council during the freshers' week.
This event gave budding writers the
chance to showcase their writing
skills and tell their stories to the
world. The event comprised of three
writing exercises. The first one
asked the participants to build a
story revolving around an already
given Bollywood prompt citing in the
theme for freshers'. The next two
rounds were short descriptive
writings where the participants
wrote their imaginative short
descriptions about an image and a
piece with a maximum of 30 words

New InitiativesVARTA
Varta, as the name implies, is a
small talk with the guests that
grace our campus. This was the
very first initiative to learn more
from the experience of our guests
and document it in the form of
videos and upload it to the VIT
Student Council YouTube channel.
The series started with interview of
Padmashree awardee Shri. Manoj
Joshi. Several episodes have been
released to date, which includes
celebrities like Mr. Arun Mhatre,
Ms. Anuja Vartak, and many others.

For VERVE 2020, an Online payment portal
was created by the Technical Council to avoid
the chaos of collecting physical cash and avoid
unnecessary manual accounting by creating an
online payment service for event booking. This
system helped in the easy and fast collection of
registration fees from the participants for all
the events. It was Mumbai's first intercollegiate
event to go completely cashless.
