This month, we again used play to educate children on a number of concepts. This way they learnt the importance of reading books, understood that animals have feelings and emotions just like them and realized that every country has a festival that forms a significant part of who they are!

Literacy Day

We celebrated Literacy Day by telling the children the importance of reading. The learners were shown simple power-point presentations which focused on different characters that they have read about and also clearly indicated how reading helps them develop their other skills.

Apart from that, the children came to school dressed as their favorite characters. They came on stage and posed and a few, even shared a line or two. The Prep 2 children recited a poem and they did a great job, just like the others. Kudos to our little ones!

Animal Welfare Day

Animals should be treated with tender loving care and what better way to teach the children this than by creating our own farm! To teach our children that animals live in different habitats and have feelings just like us, we spoke to them during this outdoor session. We asked them to identify the animals, say what sounds they make and where they are found. The children were able to answer most of the questions and contributed to the discussions enthusiastically; proving that they are well-informed learners.

Halloween Celebrations

Cute witches and handsome devils, pretty fairies and other folks, walked around the school sharing their goodies with their friends and teachers, as we celebrated Halloween. They posed for pictures and they scared their friends and the classrooms were filled with laughter..We wished that the day would never end!

Diwali Celebrations

dressed in lovely Indian attire and the whole school was decorated with flowers, paper lanterns and rangoli’s that the children had made. To add to the festive spirit we also lit Diya’s and candles and distributed Indian sweets. The children enjoyed showing off their clothes and absorbing the essence of India.

Professional Development

We believe that learning is an ongoing process and that is why we ensure that our teachers are provided with opportunities to hone their skills further. A few of our teachers took the “TKT – Teaching Knowledge Test” by Cambridge and have done extremely well. Great job ladies!

I would like to end this newsletter by wishing you a very “Happy Diwali.” May the festival of lights bring prosperity, happiness and wealth into your lives!

Warm Regards,Rachna
