Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is an Indian conglomerate, The company operates majorly in the segment of exploration and production, refining and marketing of petrochemicals. RIL is the second-largest publicly traded company in India by market capitalisation and is the second largest company in India by revenue after the state-run Indian Oil Corporation.
Reliance’s Jamnagar complex represents the largest industrial project ever implemented in the Indian corporate sector. The Jamnagar manufacturing complex is a fully integrated
manufacturing complex, with a petroleum refinery complex, an aromatics/petrochemical complex, a power generation complex, a port and terminal complex, as well as access to a pipeline network.
The Implementation of this project has been going on using 15 units of SANY 180 Ton crawler cranes - SCC1800, thus SANY heavy equipment plays a key role in the construction. SANY have also installed an office and warehouse with manpower at jamnager. So far, the Reliance has been satisfied with the quality of equipment and service of SANY.
In addition, SANY’s equipment improves impression of the Chinese heavy construction equipment in the India. Now, there are many SANY crawler cranes are currently using in local construction sites. SANY’s products gaining recognition and acknowledgement from local construction companies. It is predicted that SANY’s equipment will play more and more important role in the local infrastructural constructions, which in turn helps economic development in India.
SANY India reached an another Milestone by closing a deal of 750 ton Crawler Crane with “Parikh Steel Company”. So far this is the biggest capacity Crawler Crane Machine Sold by SANY India in Indian market. Currently this Crawler Crane is working in a New port Construstion site in Brazil. Brazil is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world’s fifth largest country, both by geographical area and by population. Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 km (4,655 mi).

To understand customer more and to develop and maintain a good relationship with them in all possible ways, we have organised two relationship day events so far this year. March relationship day gave a good platform for the customers to visit our plant and see the working of newly launched 8 excavators “C-9 series” models by Sany.
Sany India Marketing department arranged this product demonstration theme performance hoping to strengthen Sany brand the awareness of its Products among target clients on this occasion. Excavator show of egg digging and beer pouring with excavator and excavators dancing shows well demonstrated Sany products’ agility and maneuverability. This was the highlight of the night. These vivid and exciting performances left a very unforgettable impression to the clients.

April relationship day was organised with a theme of competition between excavators. In this event, we went for a competition with one of our major competitors in India.
This gave customers a better understanding on Sany excavators Advantages in terms of technology, performance, fuel consumption. Customers in this event has witnessed the result, that Sany fuel consumption is around 2liters/hour less than its competitor and they felt the operation of Sany machines gave them more comfort/convenient feeling compared competitors machines.

We really feel very proud and happy to say that in April our Odisha dealer M/S. SJ Business solutions sold 10 machines in his territory and achieved No. 2 position in his area. At 11:30 p.m. on April 30, 2014 local time, a wildcat gold mine collapsed in rural Santander de Quilichao, Cauca, Colombia.
The accident was caused by a landslide. By the morning of May 2, 2014 local time, three miners were killed, two were injured and 20 believed to have been buried. With six trained rescue dogs and several excavators, over 380 rescue workers were racing around the clock to remove the earth and
rocks in search of possible survivors. “12 meters has been dug in the ground, and another four meters needs to be dug to progress the rescue work smoothly”, said the Civil Defense Minister of Cauca Department.
SANY Colombia and its dealer SANYMAQ contacted their customers nearby immediately on May 1 so that they could provide equipment for the rescue work. Up to now, five SANY excavators have participated in the rescue work.

more than 400 in 2007, but we thought the way we were selling was inefficient and unsustainable, so in 2009 we overhauled the way we sell,” said Zeng.
Since then, SANY has set up 30 subsidiaries worldwide that offer ancillary services, and sales operations were overhauled to give agents a key role. Representative offices in various countries were supplanted by bigger regional offices.
Of SANY’s original decision to enter Africa, Zeng said: “At the time, all the leading heavy equipment companies felt that the only way to survive in the long run was to go international.”
In South Africa, about 90 percent of SANY’s customers are local, Xiao said.
“But in other main markets such as Angola, Cameroon, Ghana and Tanzania, it’s split between local companies and Chinese companies.”
SANY’s products have been proven in construction projects worldwide, he said, including the main stadium of the football World Cup in South Africa in 2010, a railway line linking Johannesburg and Pretoria, emergency work on the Fukushima nuclear power station in Japan and in a mining disaster in Chile.
Xiao said SANY’s machinery has a price advantage over that of its competitors in Europe and that its prices are close to those of its Japanese competitors.
“But among other Chinese and South Korean heavy machinery makers, there is no doubt our products are more expensive. That’s because of our outstanding competitive advantages.”
In China, SANY has a research and development team of more than 6,000 engineers.
“We also have the largest manufacturing base and best machinery in China,” Xiao said.
Opening a manufacturing plant in Africa is “unrealistic” right now, Xiao said, but an assembly plant is in the planning stages.
“We bought a site in Johannesburg” for the plant, he said, and a logistics and maintenance center will be built at the same location.
Local assembly will add a sharp competitive edge to SANY, and it expects to assemble its first excavator in South Africa this year, followed by cranes, road construction machinery and dredging equipment.
“When the maintenance center and assembly plant are completed, we will create more jobs for local workers and transfer skills to them,” Xiao said.
“We are negotiating with local authorities, wanting to work with them to run certificate programs for local workers. We’re not just selling machinery in Africa. We’re also helping improve industrial skills.”
Flip Hennop is the agent for SANY’s cranes in South Africa. Two SANY cranes he sold on the company’s behalf in 2008 helped win him over, and he became the company’s agent in 2010.
“They helped us establish a sales network and service team, as well as the maintenance and spare parts center,” he said.
SANY’s cranes had one of the biggest market shares in South Africa last year, he said, and that share continues to grow.
Serge Levy, a new SANY agent, said the company’s agent model works well. “We can talk with them about nearly everything in the market to ensure the channels are smooth and that products satisfy local needs.” The quality of the system guarantees that his company makes money, he said.
Africa’s industrialization and the multitude of infrastructure projects throughout the continent are giving Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer SANY Group Co Ltd huge scope to expand abroad.
However, Xiao Jiang, general manager of subsidiary SANY Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd, said that while Africa has tantalizing potential as a market, any Chinese company contemplating taking advantage of that potential needs to take a long-term view.
The African unit sells machinery used in building roads and mines, dredging harbors and lifting, among other functions. Last year, sales reached $250 million.
“If all you do is scramble for market share by offering the lowest price and don’t care about related services, it’s only a matter of time before your operations fold,” Xiao said.
“Chinese companies in Africa need to remember that having a solid foundation and a long-term strategy is a must.”
Penetrating a foreign market can be tough, particularly in the early stages, Xiao said, and SANY is concentrating on setting up a regional platform to complete the chain locally, so that it has a long-term future in Africa.
“In our industry, selling machinery is a primary-stage activity in a long industry chain. You can’t just sell new machinery. You need to offer other services as well, such as spare parts support, after-sales service, maintenance, training, financing, rental and other related services.”
SANY Group’s domestic and overseas operations are independent of one another. It has 10 offices outside China.
The southern Africa unit is SANY’s biggest in Africa, and it operates in 30 countries on the continent. It has five country-specific companies as well.
Zeng Hongbo, marketing director for SANY in South Africa, said its annual sales are more than twice the total for all its Chinese competitors in the country combined.
“Our sales totaled about $70 million last year, while the whole region’s were more than $250 million, meaning we have maintained annual growth of more than 40 percent. In 2012, we had explosive growth thanks to mining in Ghana.”
SANY entered Africa in 2002 when it started selling equipment to Chinese companies and other companies through local agents. Two years later, it decided to establish a physical presence in the continent.

Eaton is a US Fortune 500 company, a leading manufacturer in the world of diversified industrial products and one of SANY’s most important suppliers. An Eaton delegation including Chairman and CEO Sandy Cutler, Vice Chairman and COO Craig Arnold, and Asia-Pacific Regional President Curt Hutchins paid a visit to SANY’s Changsha Industrial Park on April 1, 2014. President Xiuguo Tang of SANY Group and Senior VP of SANY Heavy Industry Jianlong Huang hosted the delegation and the two sides exchanged views on the deepening of their cooperation.
Xiuguo Tang told the guests that Eaton is a company that commands the respect of many. He said that SANY and Eaton has long been excellent cooperative partners but it’ll be far from enough if that relationship is simply defined as a buyer-supplier one. The two sides need to make extra effort and start to discuss higher level strategic cooperative ties to bring about a win-win situation, added President Tang.
Cooperation between the two companies started in 1995, when Eaton mainly supplied hydraulic valve blocks to SANY. Eaton’s business with SANY has evolved over the past 20 years and now the company supplies SANY with a multitude of spare parts, including oil pumps, motors, and steering gears.
Chairman and CEO Sandy Cutler of Eaton told their hosts that they have been watching SANY’s development very closely and that they put premium on the business relationship with SANY. He said that Eaton had always viewed SANY as one of their most important customers and they hope to give long

term support to SANY with their quality products. “Eaton’s product lines have become more rich and diversified and we hope that our cooperation can be more diversified and further deepened,” said Sandy Cutler.
Chairman Sandy Cutler and his delegation was shown around the company’s museum and its No. 18 workshop and was briefed on SANY’s history, products and operations. Chairman Cutler told his hosts that he totally endorsed SANY’s “all for customers” business philosophy. He said that this showed that the two companies shared the same approaches to customers, that is, to meet the needs of them and create value for them by provision of products and services with the highest possible quality.
Eaton entered the Chinese market in 1993 with the establishment of a JV, which mainly focused on steering gears and hydraulic gerotor motors for farming and construction machinery. The company has expanded its China business rapidly through solely funded businesses as well as M&A. Now Eaton’s four major sectors -- Electrical Americas, Electrical Rest of World, Aerospace, Hydraulics, Truck and Automotive -- have all been making products in China.
