New Office Door

Carpenter Nick Downs and Ed Rogers remodeled the old office door from a sin-gle door to a split Dutch-style door for a little extra security for our office. They cut the door in half, built a shelf, added new hinges, and built and installed a new shelf. They stained and varnished the entire door so it looks brand new. Great job, guys, and thank you so much!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

To all who contribute to the produce

table, especially Camille Price for

coordinating everything. Also

thank you to Camille Price, Louise

Ingebrigtson, Bev Dell, John Mor-

ris, and Barb Deycous for sharing

their produce harvest with Pastor

Justin and I.

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

As we begin to enter into the chaotic time of Fall, ponder

a question with me. School starts up and we enter into

harvest time. Summer vacations wind down and we set-

tle into the grindstone again. The world asks us a cru-

cial question. Why do you bother going to church? Why

would anyone get up on Sunday, possibly the only day

you can actually sleep in, sit through a boring service,

and be happy enough with the experience to even leave

some hard earned money in the offering plate?

Certainly it isn’t the music, because we can find more

modern and entertaining music in other places. Certain-

ly it isn’t the preaching, because we can find better

preachers who are broadcast on television in the comfort

of your living room. We can find more excitement watch-

ing sports or something else. Why then go to church?

I cannot speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself.

When I come together to worship God with other people,

God just does something in me and I am changed. Week

by week this change happens. When I raise my voice to

sing with the people around me, I not only join with

them. I sing with the angels in Heaven, with the Church

around the world, and with the Church from ancient

times. To worship the creator of everything, the redeem-

er or my soul, and the sustainer of everything fills me

with awe and wonder. I realize that God is pleased with

our worship and I cannot get enough. Then I find that I

am surrounded by others who understand the mystery

that the world cannot comprehend. That God is truly in

our midst, loves and accepts us for who we are, and

molds and shapes us into His glorious image. I guess I

just love Jesus and His body the Church and He keeps

me coming back for more.

How about you, why do you bother going to church?

Blessings,

Pastor Justin

GRIEF TALKS

For those going through the shad-ows, pain, tears and fear of the grief season. Grief talks meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the Fireside Room.

Do you or anyone you know play the piano and would like to earn a little extra $$? We need a pianist for Worship Service on Sundays and for choir practice on Wednesdays. Anyone interested is asked to call the church office at 754-4664.

Want to have a little extra fun during Worship while con-tributing to a very important role for the service? We need someone to volunteer to run the sound board. You don’t have to be really tech-nical savvy, everything is pretty much set up as you’ll need it! If you are interest-ed, please call the church of-fice.
