Prayer to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha St. Kateri Tekakwitha, favored child and Lily of the Mohawks, I come to seek your intercession in my present need: (mention it). I admire the virtues which adorned your soul: love of God and neighbor, humility, obedience, patience, purity and the spirit of sacrifice. Help me to imitate your example in my state of life. Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for me and help me. Obtain for me a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that I may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as I can. Teach me

also to be devoted to my crucified Savior as you were, that I may cheerfully bear my daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of me. Most of all, I beg you to pray for me that I may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save my soul. Amen.

PRAYER FOR PARISH RENEWAL Heavenly Father,

We thank you for gathering us together

and calling us to serve as your disciples.

You have charged us through

Your Son, Jesus, with the great

mission of evangelizing and

witnessing your love to the world.

Send your Holy Spirit to guide us

as we discern Your will for the

spiritual renewal of our parish.

Give us strength, courage, and

clear vision as we use our gifts to

serve You. We entrust our parish family

to the care of Mary, our mother, and

ask for her intercession and guidance

as we strive to bear witness

to the Gospel and build an

amazing parish through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS

Per ADNY instruction we will not return to Religious Ed classes this year. All students should re-register for the next grade

level for our September program. We know that this is a disappointment for many of you, our families, catechists and volun-

teers. For me it is heartbreaking not to see the beautiful smiles of our children and the moms and dads whom I look so forward

to greeting. Sadly, this must be so for now. Regarding the First Holy Communion and Confirmation celebrations we await direc-

tives from ADNY. There are many practical and health considerations being analyzed which will effect just how we come back to

live Sacramental liturgies. Please be patient and know that we will inform you of developments as soon as possible. God bless

you all. Jesus I trust in You!

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS

HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly

Sixth Sunday of Easter

May 17, 2020

“Beloved: Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be

ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a

reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and rever-

ence, keeping your conscience clear… For it is better to

suffer for doing good, if that is the will of God, than for

doing evil…for Christ suffered that he might lead you to

God.”

How wonderful if you would take the time or make the op-

portunity to read the entire letter of Saint Peter. He spent

his time, helping the first and persecuted Christians to re-

main strong in their faith.

Are you ready to answer questions people might pose, be-

cause you are a believer? There are so many people hungry

for the truth and for the Lord, and you might be the instru-

ment He uses to bring them back, or even to meet Him for

the first time.

The reason others approach you is because they find some-

thing special in you, they want what you have. If you are

not sure how to respond, suggest a bible study or faith shar-

ing group – and join one yourself. In this way all can grow

together in faith as we walk the journey together. As some-

one told me today, they heard a voice saying ‘I am waiting

for you.’
