“And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’” (Luke 7:13)
This verse is a great reminder that the Stewardship lifestyle is one of service, putting God first and to “love one another.” Unfortunately today, many people have “passion” for activities they enjoy - their job and off-work activities. Many times our “passion” to excel is at the expense of someone else. Maybe we need to focus on a little less passion for our individual concerns and a lot more compassion for others.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT: “Forming deeply committed Catholics living the Gospel.”
Worship Regularly • Pray Often • Serve Others

MASS INTENTIONS & CALENDAR FOR WEEK OF JUNE 9TH - 16TH
(Special Intentions)
Somebody hijacked my email. I was not stranded in the Philippines, Kuwait or Nairobi. I have beenhome watching Judge Judy. I thank those, who thinking I was stranded, expressed their concern. Onewas even willing to donate 50 cents to expedite my return. I am touched by his generosity. But what Idon’t like is that my emails are messed up. Not only that but taking no chances I cancelled my creditcard. I thought I had a backup but either I was dreaming or I can’t find it. I am now without a creditcard. How do I pay for gas? Groceries? Or my Yoo-hoos? I feel vulnerable. I will spend the next fewdays pining for my new credit card. What to do in the meantime? I guess I have to survive the oldfashion way and use plain old cash. I haven’t done that in years. It’s just not the same. I am uncomfortable, anxious and uneasy without my credit card. I can’t wait until my new one arrives.
Know what else will leave me even more anxious and uncomfortable - beginning the day without pray-er. That just wouldn’t feel right. Having cash in my pocket or a premium credit card would not quellthat uneasiness. Praying centers me. It guides me. It puts my life in proper focus. It keeps me groundedand my priorities in order. When I begin the day seeking God I am ready to face whatever may layahead. I may mess up, problems happen, I may accomplish nothing but if I have prayed it was a goodday. It is like the bumper sticker “A bad fishing is better than a good day at work.” Well even if Iprayed poorly, distractedly, and carelessly, it still has immense blessing. I have been with my heavenlyFather.
I encourage you to start the day in prayer. Even five to ten minutes reading and pondering God’sword will get you going in the right direction. Life is challenging enough; to face it without prayer isludicrous. I certainly will survive without my credit card; I cannot survive without prayer. I no doubt neither can you. Together let’s begin the day in prayer. Don’t leave home without it.
Be Blest - Fr. Tom

The recent Family Renew Community Ice Cream Social & Silent Auction Fundraiser raised$16,000 -- $2,000 more than last year! We are grateful to the Conference of CatholicWomen and the Knights of Columbus, members of which helped serve the cake and icecream and cooked hotdogs. We also would like to thank the Youth Group for making it a funday for kids by supervising games and dipping ice cream, and St. Peter Catholic School forhelping to sell tickets. Last but not least, the event would not have been possible without thesupport of Fr. Tom, the generosity of parishioners who donated and bid on silent auction itemsand purchased tickets for the event, our sponsors, and Rodeo Whip for donating all the delicious ice cream. Well over 500 people attended and many more bought tickets. Althoughtickets were sold far and wide, for the third consecutive year, a St. Peter parishioner won thegrand prize of $500. All of the funds will go to help support the Deland Family Renew campus, which serves seven homeless families with children.
