“A Mask and Gloves” Social Story featuring

Max!

This is Max! Some of us know him! He is a friendly and funny little frog who loves to make people smile! Look at his big smile!

Max loves to wear sunglasses for two reasons! The first one is because it protects his eyes from the bright sun. The second is because he thinks he looks cool! Look! He is still smiling even though we can’t see his eyes!

Max is pointing to something on his arm. Do you see what it is? It is a bandage. Max had a little scratch on his arm, and a bandage helps to protect his body by keeping germs out of it. He is still smiling!

Can you see what Max is wearing in this photo? He has gloves on his hands. People wear gloves to keep germs off of their hands. They are used to protect us. Max is still smiling!

Here is Max holding something that you may have seen before. It is a mask. Maybe you have seen people in your neighbourhood wearing one. They are made of paper or fabric. Max is excited to wear it! He keeps smiling!

Here is Max with the mask on his face. It does not hurt him. This one is a pretend mask made out of paper towel but it looks like a real one. Real masks help us keep our germs to ourselves. Masks help to catch our germs, much like our elbow ‘cough pockets’. They protect other people from our germs. Max is smiling behind this mask!

Here is Max wearing the same mask! He wanted to show you that he is still Max behind the mask. He likes to have fun and make people laugh! What do you think of the big red lips we coloured on our pretend mask? It is like he is blowing you a kiss!Max is still smiling!

Here is Max wearing both a mask and a pair of gloves. He is still Max and he is still smiling!

Look carefully at Max!He has 4 items he is wearing that are used to protect himself and others! Can you list what they are? His sunglasses, his bandage, his gloves, and his mask!!It is still Max and he is still smiling!

When someone you know, like your teacher, wears a mask and gloves, they are still the same caring, and smiling teacher you have always known. Just like Max. And, they are still smiling underneath their masks!
