PHILIPPIANS 3:10-14 (NIV)

“I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE) **Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals are available for use during

CALL TO WORSHIP: L: Welcome, people of God to this service of worship where we will celebrate together our love of God and honor the academic achievements of our graduates. P: We join our hearts together in our love of God and with those among us who are celebrating their graduation or the graduation of a family member or friend. L: As with all success, there are many people who have helped to contribute to these achievements: family members who have provided emotional and financial support, teachers and mentors who have instructed them, and God who has upheld all things as they have striven to achieve their academic goals. P: We congratulate the students, the families, the teachers, and all involved in the success; we give thanks to God for the guidance and sustenance both past and present and call upon God to direct the graduates along the path of life. Amen.

CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Prayer of Confession: (In Unison)

Great and merciful God, in our gathering today we pause to recognize those who are graduating today. We celebrate their achievements and thank you for those who have helped them along the way. As we recognize them, we are reminded of the achievements in our own lives. We think of the hard work and sacrifice it took to accomplish our goals, and we remember those who supported us in our accomplishments. Remind us that the rewards of success are not the benefits we have received from what we have achieved, but in how we have used those successes to help others in their journeys. Forgive us if we have grown lax in our role to pay our successes forward. Inspire and reinvigorate us to help others in achieving their goals, and in the process may we all work to serve one another in your love. Amen.

WELCOME TEAM NEEDS YOUR HELP

The only requirement for being a part of the Welcome Team is to be friendly. Assisting the committees with greeting people at the Information Booths is a wonderful way for you to meet and get to know people. Handout information is well stocked at each booth. Escorting people to the nursery or Sunday school classes or Souers Hall is helpful. No meetings are required; just your presence with a

smile. For more information or to sign up, see Janet Albert at the Information Booth in the breezeway or at [email protected] or (623) 466-9439.
