Today’s Message:
“A Call to Fan the Flame!”
Part 4
II Timothy 1:6-7
You could translate the command
to “stir up” as, “Repeat
enthusiastically whatever you’ve
done in the past to put life back
into your spiritual fire. Be fervent,
wholehearted, zealous,
passionate, and vigorous about
it.”

which is in you through the
laying on of my hands,
for God gave us a spirit not of
fear but of power and love and
self-control.”

fire] that is in you by means of the
laying on of my hands [with those
of the elders at your ordination].

In Scripture there are
several things which
symbolize the Holy Spirit.
Fire is used as a symbol of the
Holy Spirit
“Then there appeared to them divided
tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon
each of them. And they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave
them utterance.”
Acts 2:3-4
“The Scripture teaches us that when the
Holy Spirit comes, He brings spiritual fire.
In fact, the Bible says that when we’re
baptized in the Holy Spirit, we’re baptized
with the Holy Ghost and with fire (see
Matthew 3:11; Luke 3:16). And if we’re going
to burn for God now and keep burning for
Him for years and years to come, we need to
experience the work of the Holy Spirit in our
life continually. He adds the fuel we need to
keep our life spiritually ablaze.”
Rick Renner
“Is not the presence of the Holy Spirit in the
Church less distinct today than in the
Apostolic Age? Certainly there is not much
appearance of Pentecostal inspiration and
enthusiasm in contemporary Christianity.
Christianity is nothing if not spiritual. Why
has not a Church now eighteen hundred
(note: now over 2000) years old a fuller
realization of the witness of the Holy Spirit
than had the Church of the First Century?
Has the Church accomplished all the purpose
of God and passed forever the zenith of her
light and beauty?” – Dr. Joseph Parker
“The Church is the Body of Christ, and
the Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. He fills
the Body, directs its movements,
controls its members, inspires its
wisdom, supplies its strength. He
guides into truth, sanctifies its agents,
and empowers for witnessing. The
Spirit has never abdicated His authority
nor relegated His power.”
Samuel Chadwick
Every true Christian has
the Holy Spirit indwelling
them.
Every Christian has a
definite relationship with
the Holy Spirit.

advantage that I go away; for if I do not go
away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I
depart, I will send Him to you.
And when He has come, He will convict the
world of sin, and of righteousness, and of
judgment: of sin, because they do not
believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go
to My Father and you see Me no more; of
judgment, because the ruler of this world is
judged.
