Study &
High academic qualityAll summer schools consist of intensive full-time programmes in which a wide variety of teaching methods are used, ranging from lectures, workshops and debates to visits and seminars. Sessions are taught by international speakers and experts from both within and outside the academic world. For some programmes, participants are required to do some preparato-ry reading or write an assignment at the end of the course. An inten-sive learning experience with max-imum impact is guaranteed thanks to the international composition of the classroom, the interactive set-up of the courses and the ap-proachability of the lecturers.
Social programmeTo keep the minds fresh and to maximise interaction, a wide variety of fun and interesting social activities will be organised during evenings and weekends so partic-ipants can make the most of their stay in Antwerp. Most activities are offered free of charge, in some cases participants will be asked for a small contribution to cover the costs. Participants will not only have the opportunity to get to know their
class-mates and professors in a more informal way, but will also be able to get in touch with students attending other summer schools at the Antwerp Summer University. A visit to the beautiful city hall, a networking reception, a guided city walk, a quiz, a football game and a day-trip to another Belgian city such as Bruges os Brussels are only some examples of these activities.
Combine study and pleasure and spend a happy summer in Antwerp!

The experience at the Antwerp Summer University was great! Although the programme was academically demanding, we had a wonderful time in class
thanks to the presence of so many speakers and participants coming from different countries. We also participated in the social activities during evenings and
weekends and had an amazing two weeks in Antwerp.

Getting to AntwerpAntwerp is located in the centre of Belgium and is easily accessible by plane, train, car and bus. The international airport of Brussels (Zaventem) is the most frequently used gateway to Antwerp, but you might also want to consider the low-cost airport of Brussels South or the very nearby airport of Antwerp itself. Antwerp is also very easy to reach by train. Internation-
al railway lines link Brussels and Antwerp to several other major European cities. Lastly, Eurolines buses also frequent the city centre of Antwerp, which might be the cheapest option to get here.
Did you know that Antwerp’s Cen-tral train station was awarded as the most beautiful railway station in the world by New York’s Mashable in 2014?
Getting aroundThe University of Antwerp has 9 campuses located in the city centre as well as in the the outskirts of Antwerp. All summer schools will take place at either the Stadscam-pus or Campus Drie Eiken. Biking between the campuses is the easi-est and fastest way to get around, although a dense public transpor-tation network also allows you to easily travel by bus or tram between campuses.
