Salford’s Definition of Bullying
Bullying is an unwanted behaviour that oppresses and intimidates another person, emotionally and sometimes physically. The behaviour is repeated or has the potential to be repeated and as a result makes the person feel unhappy and unsafe. A child or person affected can be bullied at any time or place.

Governance
The Anti-Bullying Policy and Action Plan act as the operational delivery mechanism of the Strategy.
The strategy covers all organisations and settings.
The Anti-Bullying Sub-Group report progress at least every six months to Salford Children and Young People’s Trust, Salford Safeguarding Children Board and other interested parties will be able to monitor progress via the Trust’s annual report.

How do we deliver these? Deliverable 1:
An Anti-Bullying Strategy Group is formed, is well attended by representatives of all relevant organisations, and is driving forward this plan.Deliverable 2:
An annual anti-bullying survey happens every year in a timely manner, is relevant to all settings, and provides useful strategic and operational informationDeliverable 3:
An annual anti-bullying conference occurs to promote awareness and provide an opportunity to share good practice; representatives of all partners in the Children and Young People’s Trust attend.

Deliverable 4:
Up-to-date anti-bullying policies are in place in all settings.
Deliverable 5:
A common definition of bullying is being used by all organisations represented on the Children and Young People’s Trust.
Deliverable 6:
BIG Award (Bullying Intervention Group) achieved for at least two settings per year.
How have we delivered these? Awarded October 2012
Deliverable 7:
Practitioners in schools act quickly, confidently and effectively with both victims and perpetrators of bullying to minimise impact and avoid situations escalating.
Deliverable 8:
A bullying incident reporting system is in place for schools and is being used, with a common understanding of when it is appropriate to report incidents.
