ANTI BULLYING/ BUDDY BENCH CAMPAIGN

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with Buddy Ambassadors is kicking o� their Anti Bullying/Buddy Bench Campaign the week of October 14th to 18th 2019 on Virgin Gorda BVI.

The ‘Buddy Ambassadors/Buddy Bench’ campaign, is an ongoing U.S National Anti-bullying campaign designed by author and youth advocate, Loverly Sheridan based on her book ‘Be a Buddy Not a Bully’ which is geared towards children in grades Pre-K to 3, (Ages 4 to 10) to help raise awareness and end bullying to promote friendliness and inclusiveness in schools. Their mission is to build up buddies to help end bullying. The programme was created to educate, empower and encourage children through various activities and initiatives, to be kind to their peers, and to provide children with leadership skills an opportunity to lead and empower others. Ms. Sheridan believes that if we teach children about the e�ects of their actions, and the importance of teamwork, sharing, compassion and empathy from an early age, that we can help curb some of our larger societal problems. This belief is what inspired the “Buddy Ambassadors/Buddy Bench” programme/ initiative.

Ms. Sheridan will be presenting Buddy Benches to all schools on Virgin Gorda and will also be introducing the buddy ambassadors programme. Ms. Sheridan has just received Palm Beach Educator of the Year award and we are thrilled to be working with her.
