Installation ExamplesTransmission line runs can be clamped directly to a roundtower leg or diagonal, as shown (Fig. A), by using twoclamp heads back-to back. The clamp heads must bebolted together (Fig. B) before installing either theCushion Hanger or the adjustable Clamp. Threaded rodstandoffs may be used to extend the transmission lineaway from obstructions, for either angle-leg towers (Fig.C) or pipe-leg towers.

Heavy Duty Welded Coax SupportLadderwith Angle Rail and RungsThe Coax Support Ladder, in lengths of 5' (1.524 m), 10'(3.048 m), and 20' (6.096 m), is provided in weldedsections, that include 2-1/2" (64 mm) x 2-1/2" (64 mm) x1/4" (6 mm) angle rails, angle rungs, and hardware fortower attachment. The maximum span between towerattachments is 20' (6.096 m) Two hardware mounting kitsare provided with the 20' (6.096 m) ladder, and onehardware mounting kit is provided with the 10' (3.048m) ladder and the 5' (1.524 m) ladder. Each hardwaremounting kit includes two brackets and hardware toattach the ladder to the tower.

There are two ladder widths available, 3' 1-1/2" (953mm) for 12 runs of coax and 3' 10-1/2" (1.181 m) for 15runs of coax. The rung spacing is 3' 4" (1.016 m) and has3/4" (19 mm) holes for Snap-In Hangers and 7/16" (11mm) holes for Cushion Hangers or Butterfly Hangers tosupport coax transmission line up to 2-1/4" diameter.

Each ladder section is furnished with splices to intercon-nect with the next section. The ladder for round towermembers attaches to an 1-1/2" (38 mm) to 4-1/2" (1.231m) OD round tower girt or diagonal with includedbrackets and hardware. The ladder for angle towermembers attaches to a 5" (127 mm) maximum, girt ordiagonal, with included J-bolts and backing plates. Anoptional J-bolt can be ordered when the angle towermember exceeds 5" (127 mm). J-bolt part number B2335(p. 14.04) will accommodate angle tower members from5" (127 mm) to 7" (178 mm) in width.

When the Ladder extends to ground level below thelowest girt, a Ladder Base Kit is required to support theladder at ground level. The Kit consists of stub angles thateither install in a concrete footing or bolt to a concretepad. Material is hot-dip galvanized after fabrication.

Lightweight Support RailLengths of B240 or B251 Combination Square Rail can bejoined together with B252 Splices to fabricate a light-weight vertical transmission line support.

One side of the Square Rail is used to attach CushionHangers at desired intervals using Spring Nuts and 3/8"hardware. The other side attaches to the tower usingvarious methods, depending on the tower construction.The recommended maximum span between towerattachment points is 20 feet (6.096 m), based on aloading of 20 lb (27.120 Nm) per lineal foot.

Transmission line runs of this type should be installednear a climbing ladder or tower leg since the support railitself offers no footing for workers installing the line-support components.

Combination Square RailRails are 1-5/8" (41 mm) square, 12-gauge (3 mm)galvanized steel that is spot welded back-to-back. Whenused for horizontal transmission line support, the top Railslot is used for attachment to Pipe Heads with 1/2"hardware and 1/2" Spring Nuts (B262). The lower Railslot is used to attach transmission line with 3/8" hardwareand 3/8" Spring Nuts (B174). See page 6.01

Lightweight Support Ladderwith Square RailVertical support ladders for self-supporting towers can befabricated using standard products, as shown. Laddersare 3' 4" (1.016 m) wide and are attached to the face ofthe tower. The recommended maximum span is 20'(6.096 m) between tower attachment points. This isbased on a loading of 40 pounds (54.233Nm) per linealfoot resulting from a 100 mph (161 km/h) wind load onseven 1-1/2" (30 mm) elliptical waveguide runs.

Cross Pieces, for either Cushion Hangers or Snap-InHangers, are attached at desired intervals to one side ofCombination Square Rails using 3/8" Bolts and SpringNuts (p. 14.03). The other side of the CombinationSquare Rails attach to the tower with 1/2" hardware.Exact methods of attachment depend on the type of towerconstruction. Lengths of the rail are joined together withB252 Splices. Attaching hardware for the Rail and CrossPieces is ordered separately.

Adjustable Clamping BarThe Adjustable Clamping Bar is used to support verticaltransmission-line runs and to terminate horizontalbridges on the face of angle leg towers. This is an ex-tremely versatile product. Slots in the Clamping Bar allowit to attach to a variety of tower widths.
