Natural Resource ExtensionNatural resources are vital to our economy and quality of life. Education is often touted as the key to effective, sustainable natural resource management. Doing that requires a variety of creative approaches to educat-ing landowners, managers, decision mak-ers, and youth.

Who should join ANREP?ANREP is a national association for Cooper-ative Extension Service professionals work-ing in environmental education, fisheries, forestry, wood sciences, range, recreation, waste management, water, watersheds, coastal resources, Sea Grant, climate change, wildlife, sustainable living, energy, and related disciplines. Members may be active or retired Extension employees at the county, area, state, or national level.

What are ANREP’s objectives?• Bring Extension professionals together

to discuss mutual natural resource is-sues, needs, and opportunities.

• Advance natural resource Extension through continuing education for Exten-sion professionals.

• Promote cooperation among states and regions, agencies, associations, and businesses on natural resource educa-tion programs.

• Develop, sponsor, and promote educa-tion and training programs that advance natural resource management.

• Strengthen communication with Exten-sion administrators.

I joined ANREP because . . .

...in my work in a new subject area —sus-tainable living — I needed advice from colleagues in many fields - forestry, environ-mental ed, biology, energy. What other orga-nization offers such a range of expertise? (Viviane Simon-Brown, Oregon State Univ.)

...I want to have a voice in what’s going on in my profession at the national level (Mike Kuhns, Utah State Univ.)

...I’ve gained access to a great pool of knowledge, a place to go where they “talk my language,” and a group of co-workers who believe what we are doing is worth do-ing. (Adam Downing, Penn State Univ.)

...natural resources is a “growth area” for Cooperative Extension, and ANREP is a professional organization that ensures that natural resources is represented within ex-tension. (Gary Goff, Cornell Univ.)

...it represents natural resource extension Professionals on a national level throughJCEP and ECOP. (Mike Kroenke, Univ. of Minnesota)

...it brings together extension professionals who share common visions and challenges. (James Finley, Penn State Univ.)

...it’s been exciting to see an organization grow and develop that includes all disci-plines that deal with natural resources. (Deborah Hill, Univ. of Kentucky)

Professional recognitionOne of the functions of ANREP is to recog-nize excellence in Extension natural re-source programs, and to identify models for other Extension professionals to consider in their programs. Awards include:

• President’s Award
