GLORY OF GOD’S PLAN

In the readings today we are encouraged to realize that life is not about little successes, settling into a comfortable life or even living our dreams. We are part of a much greater plan of salvation that God so intimately desires for each of us. Some choose to be a part of that greater desire of God and some do not. In the first reading we hear that King Cyrus did not take the comfortable route of keeping the Jewish people enslaved, but felt called by God to set them free (Is 45: 1, 4-6). King Cyrus was part of a much bigger, glorious plan of God’s. In 1 Thessalonians we hear of the great difference Paul made in Thessalonica. If Paul had not been so passionate and dedicated to God’s greater plan, Christianity as we know it would not have survived there. Paul was part of a much bigger, glorious plan of God’s. Yes, this world is imperfect, bad things happen, violence happens, natural disasters happen. God does not cause any of these, but God does work at using the good and bad alike to bring about his greater desire of salvation for each of us. Just think about when something bad happened to you and you were overwhelmed by the kindness of others. What about when you were miserable and that one person brightened your day? How about when you find yourself with words of wisdom that came out of nowhere? Don’t forget about those moments you sit in wonder and awe at God’s goodness. King Cyrus couldn’t see the bigger picture of God. Paul couldn’t see the bigger picture of God. Many times it is hard for each of us to see the greater desire, hope and work of God. But, you too have the opportunity today to be a part of a much bigger, glorious plan of God’s.
