THEYEAR IN PERSPECTIVE

As we look back several months to those first days of Septem-ber and the start of school, we realize that many exciting and'interesting things have already taken place this year in themusic department.

As always, each year begins with the busy activities of the"Marching Falcons". We look back with pride at having re-ceived first place championships at the Battle of Bands inWashington, Pa., and at the Pickerington Marchi'ng Festival.We were also extremely proud of our Color Guard for their firstplace finish at the Pickerington Marching Festival.

In addition to the home and away football games, the "March.ing Falcons" appeared in the Millersport Sweet Corn FestivalParade, at which Lisa Trocchia, our Sweet Corn Queen Candi-date was crowned queen, the Columbus Day USAParade, andthey gave another unforgettable performance at the FairfieldCounty Fair.

The marching season came to an exciting close with the annual"Marching Falcons In Concert" and the Marching Band Ban.quet. At the banquet, Tom Page was selected' for the Out-standing Marching Band Member Award. Frank Hillyard, SallyLemert, Mark Springer, and Kelley Daniel were selected asrunnersup from their respective classes. This marked thefirst year that the "Marching Falcons" made an album of theirannual "Marching Falcons In Concert".

Many of you have been involved with the music department inthe past, either with the "Marching Falcons"at such placesas the Indianapolis 500, the Cherry Blossom Festival in thenation's capital, the Macy's and Gimbel's Thanksgiving DayParades, or with the Assembly Singers and ELJWB at theirmany performances, including many performances on radio orTV,or you may have attended one of our musicals, our VarietyShow, or one of the recitals on the Recital Series. These aremoments of the past that we are proud of, and none of it wouldhave been possible without the help and' cooperation of theparents, teachers, school administrators and staff, and theMusic Boosters, which without their support, many of our trips,instruments, and uniforms would never have been realized. Wethank you all and hope for your continued support. Wewelcomeyou to our annual instrumental concert and hope you enjoyour program.
