Professor Anand AnandalingamDean Imperial College Business SchoolG. “Anand” Anandalingam is the Dean of Imperial College Business School at Imperial College London. Previously he was Dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business from 2008 to 2013. He was the Senior Associate Dean and occasional Acting Dean from 2007 to 2008.

As Dean at the Smith School, Anand invested in ten centers of excellence including the Center for Social Value Creation, Center for Financial Policy, Center for Health Information and Decision Systems, and the Center for Leadership, Innovation and Change. He has also raised funds for multiple endowed professorships, programmes on business history and ethical leadership, and numerous scholarships for students.

Before joining Smith in 2001, Anand was at the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 15 years where he was the National Center Professor of Resource and Technology Management, and a professor in both the Penn Engineering School and the Wharton School. Anand received his Ph.D. and M.S. from Harvard University, and his B.A. and M.A. from Cambridge University.

Professor Rosemary Deem OBEVice Principal (Education) Royal Holloway, University of LondonRosemary’s main research interests focus on policy, leadership, governance and management of higher education; the consequences of university league tables; doctoral students; the changing purposes and roles of universities; public service organizations, leadership and change agency and equality in educational settings.

She is a member of several learned societies (British Sociological Association, British Educational Research Association, European Group of Organisational Studies, Society for Research into Higher Education) and several research networks including the World Wide University ‘Ideas and Universities’ network, The Consortium of Higher Education Researchers and Network 22, Higher Education Research of the European Educational Research Association. She has been a member of 3 UK Research Assessment Exercise Sub-Panels on Education (1996, 2001, 2008). She is an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences (since 2007) and she is also an Honorary Fellow of the Society for Research into Higher Education (since 2009).

Professor Staffan FurustenDirector Stockholm Centre for Organizational ResearchStaffan Furusten is Director of Score (Stockholm Centre for Organizational Research) and associate professor at the Department of management and organization, Stockholm School of Economics. Score is a multidisciplinary research centre run since 1992 jointly by Stockholm School of Economics and Stockholm University. Staffan Furusten’s research revolves around the construction of expertise in contemporary society, commercialised and hybrid professionalism among consultants, managing conflicting logics in cooperatives and plublic and mutually owned corporations, and production and diffusion of popular management knowledge. He has published on these topics in articles in international journals, book chapters in edited volumes and in monographs and text books in both the Swedish and English. A recent publication is Institutional theory and organizational change (Edward Elgar, 2013), but he is also the author of Popular Management Books - how are they made and what do they mean for organizations (Routledge, 1999) and co-editor (together with Andreas Werr) of the forthcoming Expert Society and Organization (Routledge, 2017).

Marco Grancagnolo Policy Analyst European CommissionMarco Grancagnolo works at the European Commission as Policy Analyst in the unit responsible for the Evaluation of R&I Framework Programmes in the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation (DG RTD). He provides intelligence on evaluation methodologies and on assessment of results and impacts of FP7 and Horizon 2020. In the last 5 years, he worked at the Secretariat-General of the Commission and at the cabinet of the former environment and research Commissioner, J. Potočnik. Before joining the Commission in 2010, he was researcher on Sustainable Development and Climate Change-related issues.

Professor Lucas IntronaAssociate Dean of Research Lancaster University Management SchoolLucas D. Introna is Associate Dean of Research at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), since 2010. He was responsible for the School’s REF2014 submission and has been central to the ongoing development of a vibrant interdisciplinary research culture at LUMS. His research interest is the social study of technology and its consequences for society. In particular he is concerned with the ethics and politics of technology. He is co-editor Ethics and Information Technology and acted as associate editor for Management Information Systems Quarterly and Information Systems Research. He is also a founding member of the International Society for Ethics and Information Technology (INSEIT).

Anne KiemChief Executive Chartered Association of Business SchoolsAnne joined the Chartered ABS as Chief Executive in November 2014. Previously she had been Chief Executive of the Institute of Financial Services, part of what became IFS University College, where she led on strategic development, implementation and the establishment of the Institute’s relationships with government and business. In various roles at the IFS she was responsible for setting up the Financial Capability department, managing all aspects of the regulated advice business, and managing the acquisition and rebuilding IFS ProShare.

Professor Martin Kitchener Dean Cardiff Business SchoolMartin’s academic research concentrates on issues of organization, performance, and policy in health and social care. In the UK, he has led externally-funded studies of settings including hospitals, residential children’s care, and mental health. Martin is currently leading a major NHS SDO-funded study of organizational features associated with the successful implementation of hospital patient safety/improvement initiatives. Between 1999 and 2007, Martin worked at the University of California (Berkeley and San Francisco) where he studied the organization of long-term care, academic health centres, and dentistry. The outputs of his research are published widely and have had considerable impact on practice and policy.

Professor Robin Mason Pro-Vice Chancellor University of ExeterRobin Mason joined the University of Exeter Business School as Professor of Economics in 2009, having previously been the Eric Roll Professor of Economics and Head of Economics at the University of Southampton. He gained his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He is a fellow of the CEPR and a Reporting Panel Member and a Specialist Member on the Communications Act Panel of the Competition Commission. His academic research concentrates on how firms respond strategically to uncertainty; and, more broadly, the incentives faced by economic agents in situations when they have imperfect information about their environment. While his research is theoretical in nature, it is motivated by the applied problems that he encounters while advising regulators and companies. In particular, much of his work is based on situations he has encountered when thinking about the communications and media industries. He has acted as advisor to a number of regulators, in both the UK and internationally, to the Prime Minister of Mauritius on competition policy, and a number of private-sector companies.

John MontgomeryHead of the Research and Enterprise Office Cass Business SchoolJohn Montgomery is Head of the Research and Enterprise Office at Cass Business School, the business School of City University London. He is an experienced research manager with twenty years of experience in the UK higher education sector – working in research and then research management. He has worked at Cass for 12 years and has been head of office for five. He has overseen three research assessment exercises from the perspective of business and management studies. Cass Business School is ranked 7th out of 101 institutions in the UK in REF2014. Prior to working at Cass Business School, from 1994 to 2001, he was Research Associate at King’s College London’s Management Department.

Professor Graeme ReidStrategic Advisor, National Centre for Universities and Business and Professor of Science and Research Policy University College LondonGraeme Reid is Professor of Science and Research Policy at UCL. He is also Chairman of the Campaign for Science and Engineering, a Trustee of the Association of Medical Research Charities and Strategic Advisor to the National Centre for Universities and Business. Until March 2014, he was Head of Research Funding in the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, where he had oversight of around £5 billion per annum of research spending through Research Councils and the Higher Education Funding Council for England. He coordinated the bid for the science budget in the coalition Government’s 2010 spending review.

Graeme spent the first ten years of his career at the National Engineering Laboratory, near Glasgow. He subsequently moved to Central Government where he held positions in the Treasury, the Cabinet Office, the DTI and DIUS before the formation of BIS in 2009. Graeme has a BSc in Physics and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He has served on Boards and advisory Committees in a range of organisations including CERN, the Scottish Funding Council, Cardiff University and the Institute of Physics”.

Professor Ammon SalterProfessor in Innovation University of Bath, School of ManagementAmmon’s research focuses on the sources and determinants of innovation. In particular, he is interested in open and distributed models of innovation, social networks and university-industry collaboration. Ammon is Research Director of the UK Innovation Research Centre (funded by ESRC, BIS, NESTA and TSB). He has taught, advised and collaborated with a range of companies, such as Arup, IBM, Total, and Laing O'Rourke, and governments, including the European Commission and the UK Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, on issues relating to innovation

Malcolm SalisburyManager External Research & Innovation Europe Shell Projects & TechnologyMalcolm Salisbury works for Shell, in the Innovation, Research & Development organisation based in the North West of England. He has worked predominantly in an R&D function for more than 36 years in a wide range of roles, including Technical, Operations, Commercial and over the last ten years in Innovation. Malcolm is currently responsible for managing Shell’s strategic external research & innovation relationships with institutes across Europe. His main remit is to support and facilitate Shell’s external research & development collaborations; essentially to provide a structured channel through which research & innovation collaborations can be successfully managed & executed.

Malcolm is responsible for cultivating science and innovation platforms and strategic alliance relationships that support Shell’s R&D objectives as well as promoting a culture of open innovation in early phase of Discovery & Development. He has a Masters in Leading Innovation & Change.

Professor Peter StokesProfessor Chester Business SchoolPeter Stokes is Professor in the University of Chester Business School where he has successfully completed faculty-wide Deputy Dean (2012-2015), Acting Executive Dean (2012-2014) and Head of Research and Knowledge Transfer (2014-2015) assignments. He is director for a number of doctoral theses and also teaches research methods at masters level and publishes, and reviews extensively, in world-class journals in the areas of, among others: Management Learning and Development, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management and Research Methodology. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Organizational Analysis and holds senior positions in a range of international academic associations. He speaks French and Spanish fluently and has applied his work extensively through national and international knowledge transfer and consultancy projects across a range of business sectors.

David SweeneyDirector (Research Education and Knowledge Exchange) HEFCEDavid Sweeney is Director (Research, Education and Knowledge Exchange). In this role he is responsible for research policy and funding (including the Research Excellence Framework), knowledge exchange and health policy. A statistician, David was Director of Information Services at Royal Holloway and Chair of UCISA. He became Vice-Principal (Communications, Enterprise and Research) in 2004 then joined HEFCE in 2008.

Professor Robin WensleyProfessor of Strategic Marketing Open University Business SchoolProfessor of Strategic Marketing at the Open University and Emeritus Professor of Policy and Marketing at the Warwick Business School. Professor at Warwick since 1986 and Chair of the School from 1989 to 1994, and Chair of the Faculty of Social Studies from 1997 to 1999. Most recently Director of the AIM Research initiative from 2004 to 2011. He was previously with RHM Foods, Tube Investments and the London Business School and was visiting Professor at UCLA (twice) and University of Florida. He was Chair of the Council of the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations from 1998 until 2003 and a member of the Sunningdale Institute (2008 -11). He is a Fellow of the British Academy of Management (FBAM), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM) and The Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS). He was awarded the BAM Richard Whipp Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and previously awarded the 1981 and 1988 Alpha Kappa Psi prize for the most outstanding article in the US Journal of Marketing and the Millennium Prize for the best paper in the Journal of Marketing Management He was appointed to the Council of the ESRC from 2001 to 2004 and was a Board member of the ESRC Research Grants Board from 1991 to 1995. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Warburg Institute and the Academic Advisory Board of the Chartered Management Institute. Over his academic career, he has also been involved with consultancy and management development for many major organisations.

Professor Colin Williams Professor of Public Policy Sheffield University Management SchoolProfessor Colin C Williams is Associate Dean (Research) at Sheffield University Management School (SUMS) at the University of Sheffield. He has previously held posts at Anglia Ruskin University, Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leicester. He joined the University of Sheffield in 2006, serving as Associate Dean (Research) in SUMS between 2008-2012, Director of the Inter-disciplinary Centre of the Social Sciences (ICOSS) between 2012-2015, before returning to SUMS as Associate Dean (Research) in 2015. His academic interests are in entrepreneurship, work organisation and various forms of tax non-compliance, subjects on which he has published some 25 books and 380 journal articles over the past 25 years.

Professor James Wilsdon Director of Policy, Impact and Engagement Faculty of Social Sciences, University of SheffieldIn January 2016, James joined the Department of Politics of the University of Sheffield as Professor of Research Policy. He combines this with a role in the Faculty of Social Sciences as Director of Impact and Engagement. He is also Director of the Nexus Network, a £1.8m ESRC initiative to link research & policy across food, energy, water and the environment. Since 2013, he has been Chair of the Campaign for Social Science, and he led the working group for its 2015 report The Business of People. James recently chaired a review of the role of metrics in the management of the UK’s research system, which published its final report The Metric Tide in July 2015. Building on this, he is now leading an expert panel for the European Commission on the role of altmetrics. He is also on the advisory board of Scientists for EU. Previously, James worked as Professor of Science and Democracy at SPRU, University of Sussex (2011-2015), Director of Science Policy at the Royal Society (2008-2011), Head of Science and Innovation at Demos (2001-2008), Senior Research Fellow at Lancaster University's Institute for Advanced Studies (2006-2008) and Senior Policy Adviser at Forum for the Future (1997-2001). He contributes regularly to the media and is one of the editors of the Guardian's 'Political Science' blog on science and research policy. In 2015, James was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Anne KiemChief Executive Anne joined the Association from her position as the Chief Executive of the Institute of Financial Services. Anne has extensive experience of business, educational and non-profit sectors.

Sonika DadeCommunications and Digital Content Officer Sonika supports and coordinates all aspects of the association’s communication output and oversees the website content. Sonika has around seven years of combined experience in teaching EFL, digital marketing and copywriting. Sonika has lived and worked in Italy, Portugal and Colombia.

Giovanna BonoProject Manager Giovanna is responsible for the development, management, and delivery of research activities. Giovanna has spent 20 years working in research posts in business consultancies universities and in the European Parliament.

Kim GodfreyOffice Manager and EA to the Chief ExecutiveKim is responsible for managing the smooth running of the office as well as the association’s finance function. Prior to joining CABS, Kim worked for nine years at the ifs University College, most recently as EA to the Vice Principals of Further and Higher Education.

Barney RoeDirector, Communications & External RelationsBarney oversees the development and delivery of communications across the Chartered ABS and Small Business Charter.

Barney has worked with numerous national trade associations as part of their events, communications and government relations campaigns.

Kathryn DiazEvents and Membership Engagement Coordinator Kathryn manages the administration of the Development Programmes and events at Chartered ABS. Kathryn has over ten years of combined experience in hospitality, recruitment, travel and leisure, customer service and sales having lived and worked in Dubai and Toronto prior to moving to London.

Oliver LoweHead of ConferencesOliver is responsible for the Chartered ABS’ portfolio of conferences.

His previous roles include head of events at a financial association and a management consultancy and various event production positions within a global publishing house.

Meenal DatarOperations Manager, Small Business CharterMeenal assists in delivery of Small Business Charter initiatives to meet the needs of university business schools. She has previously worked in marketing and communications roles at Middlesex University and Kaplan International Colleges.

Emmanuel IgweProject and Committee CoordinatorEmmanuel provides project management support to the Delivering Value Taskforce as well as the Scottish, International, Executive Development, Women & Diversity, and Professional Managers’ committees. Emmanuel’s previous experience has centred on research assistance in various projects.
