Remembrance Day falls on Monday to Friday inclusive (iii) From one half hour after sunset or one half hour before sunrise or at any other time when, due to Insufficient

light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less

(iv) Subsections (ii) and (iii) do not apply to overheight and /or overweight loads and vehicles. 6. A copy of this permit (including any attachment) must be carried in the vehicle and produced on demand of a Police

Officer or an Officer appointed for carrying out the provisions of the Highway Traffic Act.7. This permit is issued on condition the permit holder accepts responsibility for any and all damage that may be

caused to overhead wires, structures, highways, encroachments or railway right of ways. The permit holdermust obtain the necessary approvals from all encroachments and/or any municipal permits required for theselected routes.

8. The overweight privileges contained in this permit are not valid on any County Roads during the months of Marchand April.

9. Notwithstanding condition 5 (ii) loads may be moved under this permit on Saturday, except during the months of Julyand August.

10. Permit holder must comply with Ontario Regulation 363/04 – Security of Loads

Conditions: A. Where a permit is issued in respect of:

1) Height: The load shall not be composed of articles loaded one on top of the other.2) Width: The load shall not be composed of articles loaded side by side or crosswise.3) Length: The load shall not be composed or articles loaded one behind the other and any overhang to the rear

shall not exceed 4.65 m from the centre of the rearmost axle unless otherwise stated.4) Weight: The load shall not be composed of more than one article. When crossing bridges, vehicles of over

45,400kg gross weight must be operated at the lowest practicable speed. Bridge postings and load restrictionspursuant to Part VII of the Highway Traffic Act apply.

B. Vehicles and loads, in excess of the width and/or length prescribed under Section 109 of the Highway Traffic Act shall be marked with four or more flags, one as near as practicable to each corner of the vehicle or load. The flags shall be bright red or orange in colour and shall be not less than 40 cm square. Where a vehicle or load is wider at any point or points on either side than at the corner, it shall, where practicable, be so marked with such a flag at the widest point on each side.

C. Vehicles and loads in excess of the length prescribed under Section 109 Highway Traffic Act shall, in addition to the flags required under Conditions B, display on the rear, in a clearly visible position, a sign bearing the words “Long Load” in black letters at least 200 mm high with lines forming the letters at least 30 mm wide on a yellow background, or a “D” sign as illustrated below. The sign to be removed or covered when not in use.

D. Note: Where a permit is issued on condition the permit holder provide Private Escort Vehicle or Vehicles:

1) The escort vehicle (s) shall be operated by a person not less than 18 years of age.

2) The escort vehicle (s) shall not have more than 2 axles and a wheelbase length of not less than 2.65 metres andshall be equipped with an amber flashing roof light visible from the front and rear for a distance of at least 150metres and shall precede on a two lane highway or follow on a four lane highway at a distance of 60 to 150metres and shall bear a sign clearly visible for a distance of at least 150 metres, which reads “CAUTIONOVERSIZE LOAD FOLLOWS” or “CAUTION OVERSIZE LOAD AHEAD” as the case may be in black lettersat least 200mm high with lines forming the letters at least 30mm wide on a yellow background, or a “D” sign asillustrated below. The sign to be removed or covered when not in use.

3) When escorting a movement in excess of 4.00 metres in width, the escort vehicle(s) and towing vehicle(s) shallbe equipped with a working two way radio communication device permitting inter-communication between thevehicles.

4) An escort vehicle shall be equipped with a fire extinguisher in effective working order, six 45 cm (18") trafficcones and/or portable reflectors approved by the County, and extra bulbs to maintain all lights required by thisschedule.

5) All units, including the escort vehicle (s) will be operated with headlights on, when traveling on a CountyRoadway.

This attachment must be affixed to the permit matching the permit number above. The attachment must be carried in the vehicle and produced on demand of a police officer or an officer appointed for carrying out the provisions of the Highway Traffic Act.
